Learning outcomes assessed:
1. Present research findings and the application of management concepts in recommending solutions to an identified business problem.
2. Critically review the completed project process and outcomes.
Individually, or in a group (4 max) publish a video presentation on YouTube discussing your research findings, recommendations, limitations and its practical applications.
Scenario:
In Assessment 2, you provided a literature review, research proposal, and questionnaire which discussed the potential implications of 5G technology in an industry of your choice. Now, your teacher will provide you and the whole class with a new, identical research proposal and questionnaire which aims to address a more general management decision problem relating to 5G.
By adminstrating the same management decision problem, research proposal and questionnaire, we can conduct research on the adoption of 5G technology in our region with a large number of respondents in the online survey.
To assist in the number of respondents the research has, each student is required to collect 12 email addresses of participants who are not already involved in this research. Your teacher will collect all the email addresses (12 per student), check for double-ups, and send one questionnaire asking all respondents to reply by a certain date. Once the data has been collected by the teacher, they will provide each research group a random sample of 150 responses. Each research group will analyse the data provided to them and present a video presentation reporting their findings, recommendations, limitations and practical applications managers might consider from the research. Suggested software includes Screencastify and MS PowerPoint.
Assessment 3 is a published, private YouTube presentation which addresses the four sections outlined below, and must be provided in plain English for a managerial audience:
Provide the context and purpose of the research. In your video, restate the project, the management decision problem, research proposal, and hypotheses. There are no marks as this section is provided by your teacher. But it does have a pass/fail component. This criteria means that if you don’t have this content in your presentation you will be awarded a fail for Assessment 3; you may have the opportunity to resubmit.
After analysing the data you’ve collected, present your findings. Your presentation should include:
• What were the main results from questionnaire?
• How do your findings relate to the hypotheses?
• How your findings help to answer the management decision problem.
Discuss your recommendations to business managers Describe to managers ways in which your research is limited. Discuss ways that future research might address these limitations, and how it might improve our understanding of this topic.
Provide a critical review of your findings and discuss the practical applications of this research for managers (positive and negative).
