The critical review is a writing task that asks you to summarise and evaluate a research article. Writing the critical review requires you to read the selected article in detail. To be critical does not mean to criticise in a negative manner. Rather it requires you to understand insight of the analysis, identify the gaps, question the information and opinions and present your evaluation or judgement on the article. To do this well, you should attempt to understand the topic from different perspectives and in relation to alternative theories, approaches and frameworks.
There are THREE articles posted on Moodle. You tutor will assign randomly an article for you for the critical review. Prepare a written analysis of the article, your analysis should:
1.Discuss the source/s of change for the organisation in the article. In your discussion include what you consider to be the primary force for the change and how these forces are influencing the organisation’s need to undertake the change. Consider:
a.Internal sources, such the relative power of different interest groups, distribution of knowledge and uncertainty
b.External sources such as the economy, competitor’s behaviour, and the political climate
Evaluate the organisational risks. What do you think might be the potential risks to organisation as a result of undertaking the changes, how severe are these risks? Discuss the possible consequences for the organisation for not undertaking the changes discussed in the article.
Read other articles mentioned in this study to check if the article correctly cited those articles and/or to get more insight about the main claim of the article.
