How New Technologies are Changing Accounting Industry - Research Report

Task

A primary benefit of completing an internship is gaining relevant industry experience and enhancing the skills you have acquired during your university studies.  The purpose of the first research project is to help you understand the future work environment you will face such that you can better prepare yourself to be successful.  

After you learn of your primary internship tasks, consider how new technologies will change the nature of these tasks in the future.  Select one technology that you believe will have significant effects on at least one task you are completing during your internship and that will affect your future career in accounting or an accounting-related field.  Research this technology and prepare a report that:

 

explains the technology

explains how the technology will affect the relevant tasks performed by accounting professionals

explains how the technology will affect your own future career

explains how you could improve your skills related to this technology and how developing these skills could enhance your career

 

The research should include references to current industry, practitioner and/or academic studies. Approx. 15 references APA style.  You can also interview relevant staff members from the organization where you are completing your internship.
