Informational interviews involve arranging a time and place to interview a professional currently working in a job role, organisation or industry related to your career aspirations.

 

The purpose is to gather information and build your professional network; the format is through a 20 - 30 minute conversation in person, on the phone, or using video technologies such as Skype or Zoom. You will need to:

 

Find a professional currently working in industry to interview Arrange the informational interview Conduct the informational interview Reflect on the experience. To help you:

Refer back to your own Career Aspiration Statement to guide your search for a professional Create a list of 10 questions to ask during your informational interview.
