SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS
1. Submit your critique as a Microsoft Word document or as a PDF file.
2. Have a title page with the title of the article you are summarizing, the course name, and your name. A running head is not required.
3. Give a brief summary of the study’s introduction. In your summary, include why the authors were conducting the study and what they expected to find (their hypothesis). If the hypothesis is not clearly stated, you should mention this and then make an inference about the hypothesis or purpose of the study. Do not summarize the abstract in this section of the paper. In the text, do not include the author's university or department and do not include the full title of the article in your introduction summary, nor should you include the first names of the authors in the text.
4. Summarize the method and results sections well enough so I can understand how the authors conducted the study and what they found. For example: Who participated? What instruments, surveys, and methods were used? What were the results of the study and how do they relate to the initial hypothesis? 5. Include at least two full paragraphs of your critique on the study's methods and the author's conclusions. You may want to include how you would have done the study differently, the strengths of the study, its weaknesses, important implications, and any alternative explanations of the results. It is not necessary, but you may also want to add how the study relates to things that we have talked about in class
