As a proxy measure, what do you think (or what do most people think) your CAP (Cumulative Average Point) is supposed to say about you? (Let’s call this “The Purpose”) How accurate/flawed is it as a proxy measure? Imagine that you became the Minister of Education, will you continue using CAP as a proxy measure for The Purpose? If yes, please draw a tree diagram illustrating how exactly the grades play out with the various classification outcomes (e.g. CAP >= 3 means capable, <= not capable, or whatever categories you have in mind –limit yourself to a max. of 3 outcomes). Justify the tree diagram and the continued use of CAP for The Purpose. If not, what proxy measures will you use? Draw a tree diagram with your own criteria (e.g. time taken, amount of X, etc.) and classification outcomes (e.g. A/B/C grade, or Excellent/Mediocre/Lousy student, up to you to decide the outcome categories, etc.) and explain how that will be a better measure for The Purpose. (The criteria you pick MUST be measurable in some way).Regardless of your answer above, to what extent can we expand the use of these tree diagrams for all NUS students? Will any specific groups of people be affected negatively by such measures?
