(a) Develop a teaching/learning kit for your target learners using ONE short story with the following activity specification: One interactive activity for any THREE literary elements. You must provide explanations and rationales for each activity chosen. Compile the 3 activities into ONE teaching/learning kit. You may present the kit in one of the following ways: in a booklet .pdf form; in a MS PowerPoint with supporting materials; any other presentation which you deem to be effective and attractive. Note: i) Please save your teaching/learning kit as .pdf or .ppt file. ii) Append the whole short story or part of the novel you wish to teach in your teaching/learning kit file. (b Choose one activity from the task above and prepare a Lesson Plan. According to Savvidou (2004), a literary text is treated as a cultural artefact in certain approaches to teaching literature. In other approaches, it is either used as a focus for grammatical and structural analysis, or the stimulus for personal growth activities. REQUIREMENT You have selected a novel prescribed in the Kurikulum Bersepadu Sekolah Menengah (KBSM) syllabus for English and prepare a synopsis of the selected novel. Based on this, prepare a discussion essay to discuss the following question: What are the TWO approaches (literary text as a cultural artefact, a focus for grammatical structural analysis, OR the stimulus for personal growth activities) that you think would be suitable for the teaching of the selected novel? Explain your choices in detail. Support your discussion with suitable examples drawn from the selected novel, and relevant ideas taken from at least TWO related theories of/studies on teaching novels in ESL. Your discussion should be detailed and well organised. You are also encouraged to base your response on your experience as a language teacher or/and learner. Ensure that you provide relevant examples to illustrate your response.
