1.  You  should  construct  a  title  based  on  the  topic  you  have  above  eg.  if  your topic is on âCharges (Part VII CPC) you may choose to narrow the scope of the topic  to  a  specific  area  of  the  law  and  procedure  adopted  by the  police,  court and/or  other  relevant  authorities.  This  will  also  include  the  powers  given  under statute.  The idea  is  to  research,  examine  and  critically  discuss  the  current  law and procedure and to suggest your ideas for reform.Â

2.  Your  written  project  should  be  typed  in  double-spaced  format.   The  project should be at least 1500 words long. However there is no word limit.  You should not  be  unduly  worried  about  the  length  of  your  written  work. You  will  not  be assessed  based  on  the  breadth  of  your  coverage  but  on  the  depth  of  your analysis. Â

3.  Students  will  be  graded  according  to  the  Marking  Rubric  enclosed  above. Students who omit any particular section will not be awarded any marks assigned by the rubric. Â

4. If it is determined that one student has copied from another, both students will be penalised. The extent of the penalty will depend on the circumstances of the case. Â

5. Any student found plagiarizing from other works, published or unpublished, will be  dealt  with  as  in  (4)  above. All  thoughts,  ideas  and  quotes  that  are  not originally the students should be acknowledged in the essay.Â

6. All assignments are to be submitted  in mailbox. The Submission Deadline is Friday 03 December 2021 5pm. Please also state your full name, your matriculation number, your course and the subject title on the front page of yourÂ
assignment. Late assignments will be marked down at 3 marks per calendar day. Â

7.  You are strongly encouraged to do your own research and reading and/or to relate  to  your  personal  experience or  observations,  as  this  will  in  all  likelihood improve the quality of your assignment.Â

8. Students are encouraged to make full use of the Consultation session conducted by your tutor. Prepare an outline of your proposed essay to check with your tutor that your essay is headed in the right direction.Â
