The purpose of this assignment is to derive association rules and calculate support and confidence for association rules. Part 1: Use the "Weather" data set to address the questions below. Using ?=3, generate the frequent 1-itemsets in the "Weather" data set. Using 75% minimum confidence and 20% minimum support, generate one-antecedent association rules for predicting “Play” using the "Weather" data set. List the support and confidence along with each rule. Note that “Play” = “Yes” means the game can be played indoors and “Play = No” means the game cannot be played indoors. Part 2: You are a data analyst and have been tasked with determining whether or not residents of the state of Montana should expect the economic outlook for their state to be better than it was a year ago. You will use the "Poll" dataset (based on Bureau of Business and Economic Research, University of Montana, May 1992, and retrieved from: http://www.stat.cmu.edu/~larry/all-of-statistics/=data/montana.dat) to help you make this determination. The dataset contains demographics information from respondents along with information about their financial status. Additionally, the website includes the coding for dataset variables. For the STAT field, 0 indicates the state economic outlook will be better than a year ago while a 1 indicates that the state economic outlook will not be better than it was a year ago. Perform an association analysis using the Apriori algorithm. In the IBM SPSS Modeler "Model" tab, ensure that 70% minimum confidence, 15% minimum support, and 2 as the maximum number of antecedents are specified. Ensure all variables are defined as "Nominal."
