1.A computer–In order to take a remote exam,you must have an Internet-connected personal computer running Microsoft Windows 8.1,10,or Apple macOS High-Sierra or newer.
2.Internet connection–A high-speed internet connection is required for downloading the exam question,downloading the exam software,and submitting the exam as well as for the IT department to perform remote support.
3.A phone–Please also have a cell phone by your side to contact the IT department in case your computer is inoperable for some reason.
4.Paper and pencil/pen–In case you cannot get back into the exam software and you must handwrite the exam.
5.Timer-You will be proctoring your own exam,so you will be responsible for not going over the allotted time.The Records Office will verify start and end times through Blackboard and Exam4.
6.Email and Zoom–If you have not done so,configure your phone to send and receive emails in case you need to get in touch with someone for help.You may also want to install Zoom Meetings on your computer and on your phone since we have dedicated Zoom meeting rooms during timed exams.
1.Open mode–You will be able to access your OFF-LINE files on your computer.You will not have access to any online files,emails, or any Internet resources.You will not be able to copy and paste from another document.Once you start your exam,you must finish it before you close the software.You will not be able to get back in and make edits once the exam is ended.
2.Open Network mode – You will be able to access your off-line and online files.You will be able to access your email and the Internet.You cannot copy and paste from another document.Once you start your exam,you must finish it before you close the software.You will not be able to get back in and make edits once the exam is ended.
3.Takehome mode–You will be able to access your off-line and online files.You will be able to access your email and the Internet.You can copy and paste.After you start your exam,you can close the software,then later get back in and make more edits.
1.Timed Exam–Just like the regular in-class exams,you will start your exam at a SET TIME on a SET DATE,with a limited time to complete the exam,e.g.the exam starts at 9am on May 7 for 3 hours.Try to find aplace you can take the exam without interruption for the duration of the exam.
2.Timed Exam w/24-hour window You will have a limited number of hours to complete your exam.This time is continuous,meaning once it’s started,it cannot be paused.So,make sure you allocate enough time for taking the exam remotely.Try to find a place you can take the exam without interruption for the entire time.You must write the exam within the limited time once you begin.
3.Takehome Exam–This type of exam is usually set to “TAKEHOME” mode so you can exit out of the software and go back in later.You must submit the exam before the deadline specified by your professor.
