ENG 101 English Composition

1.The first step in completing a research project is to compile a preliminary bibliography. (Remember, a bibliography is a list of all potential sources; your references list will be those sources you actually used and cited.)

For this assignment, you need to find a list of at least 6 - 10 potential sources to use in your paper--these articles should focus on the issue itself and not the song or the artist.  

 

Please use standard APA references list format

 

2. Your annotated bibliography must contain at least 6 sources-- your chosen song lyrics, the music video, and 4 credible secondary sources--and must follow proper APA format. [Remember, the annotation for your song and the video is simply Primary source.]

3. For this assignment, you will create an outline and analysis of your topic. You should have a solid thesis statement, and complete the outline for the first body paragraph only. You will not complete an outline for the rest. See the attached worksheet for the template to help you.

      * Main idea stated in a topic sentence (the supporting point)
      * Example from the lyrics that supports/illustrates the main idea (properly cited/documented).
      * Analyze/explain how the example supports the point. This is where you will incorporate outside sources (properly cited/documented).
      * Link the paragraph to the topic sentence and segue into your next point.
      * Conclusion Reference.

 

4. Submit the first draft of your research paper here. Your paper needs to be completed in APA paper, you may wish to use the template to get comfortable with all of the elements.
