Guidelines for Writing a Research Paper on Common Cold

Task

Your research paper will be the foundation of your presentation.

Pick a medical pathology that interests you. Access reliable sources like Scientific/medical journals (i.e. pubmed.gov), medical websites (i.e. webmd.com), organization websites related to your pathology (i.e. cancer.org)

You paper should be typed and at least 1 page long, but no longer than 2 pages (single spaced).

Use of pict ures and/or charts is highly encouraged. - Sort your necessary information to structure your paper.

A suggested format is the same format that you will need for your presentation : 

• Introduction General description of the Pathology ? Why did you choose this Pat hology (what did you find interesting about it?)
• Epidemiology Medical description of the Pathology ? What cells, tissues, organs and/or systems are affected. ? Mechanisms by which the pathology occurs (how it happens is detail)
• Current treatment options for the specific pathology ? What are the most common treatments for the pathology. ? What recommendations are given to prevent the pathology.

Grading will be based on: o Medical terminology used to describe your pathology (30 points) 

Organization and structure of your paper (10 points ) 

Quality of the final product (i.e. well written, visually appealing, well sourced) (10 points)
