ONLN 1300 HBU Mission Statement Essay

The purpose of this assignment is to provide you with an opportunity to practice what you have learned about writing scholarly papers while exploring HBU’s mission statement and how it aligns with your own beliefs. Parameters: Your essay must be 2-3 pages, not including the title page and reference page.

 

You must write the paper in the current APA format and include at least 2 references to the course material and/or the Bible. Although the first person is allowed your paper must be scholarly and well written. Pay close attention to grammar, spelling, and formatting throughout the paper. Instructions: Review HBU’s mission statement that you read in Module/Week 1.

 

The statement says, “The mission of Houston Baptist University is to provide a learning experience that instills in students a passion for academic, spiritual, and professional excellence as a result of our central confession, "Jesus Christ is Lord."”. Based on this statement consider and include the following in your essay:  What parts of the mission statement have I personally experienced at HBU? Provide examples. • Do I agree or disagree with the statement as a whole?

How does the mission statement align with the Bible? Provide at least 1 scriptural reference. Be sure to check how to include an APA in text citation as well as how to properly reference the scripture in your reference page. • If I were to create my own mission statement for my personal goals and degree plan, what would it be? What components of learning and achieving a degree are most important to me?

Be sure to double-check your work for spelling, grammar, and punctuation. You will be graded on all of those components, the flow, and coherency of the essay, as well as being able to write a proper APA formatted paper.
