To identify varying points of view, each group member will interview 5 older adults from different age groups using the question you developed in critical assignment. Each group member will use the same 10 questions during the interview and submit interview responses through the Google Form your group developed. To gain a true understanding of a perspective, you may need to ask follow-up questions. Each response should go beyond a yes/no answer.
Each group member identifies 5 older adults to interview to obtain various viewpoints. One adult should represent each of the following decades of life: 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s*. Conduct an interview with each interviewee The interview should conclude with
thanking the interviewee.
1. Growing up were there certain gender roles you expected from health professions? Did you feel uncomfortable if they weren't the gender you expected? (For example a female doctor or a male nurse).
2. Do you feel like your perceived gender affects the quality of care you received from healthcare professionals?
3. In your opinion, does society view men and women differently when individuals seek mental treatment or rehab treatment?
4. In your opinion, does society view men and women differently when individuals seek physical health treatment?
5. How do new standards regarding gender such as pronouns, gender fluidity, and gender identity affect your preferences in health care?
6. Do gender roles matter to you when picking a doctor?
7. Do you think that having women stay home and take care of the house and kids have any impact on their mental health If yes, Do you think having a job outside of the home like men would have changed that?
8. Do you feel the healthcare setting has made improvements to include all genders from when you were younger to the present day? Are there any stigmas? Are you more respected and included now?
9. As you've aged, what have you come to appreciate about your gender regarding health? Do you wish you could change any of that?
10. Have you ever been set to a certain gender role expectation, for example as a woman you were expected to have kids/ as a man you were expected to support a family? If yes, did it effect your mental health?
