Community and Stakeholders

For this study, my needs assessment discussion is based on chronic disease management among youth with mental disorders and depression. The identified community to draw attention from is Birmingham, AL.

Identify the purpose of establishing a relationship with those stakeholders

Despite Centers for Disease Control and Prevention providing screening for people presented with mental disorder risk factors, it is their purpose to enforce or implement the policies put in place to undertake the screening process (Shirley). For this to have a breakthrough, community and stakeholder rapport is important.

Steps to take to engage the stakeholders and build rapport

Using data and outcome from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, we define the extent in which the screening policy has been implemented and using the findings to make appropriate adjustments to the system (Rich, Singleton and Wadhwa).

Ways to solicit the assistance of the stakeholder in conducting the needs assessment

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the University of Alabama at Birmingham provides data records for all youth patients with mental disorders in order to make a full account of patient screening (Partridge and Dhesi). This helps in making sure that all the youth with identified behaviors are screened for mental disorders and get medications in the facilities.
