Goal 1: Professional Communication

Learning Goals for the MBA Program seeks to prepare students in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree program for careers in business and to foster their professional growth and advancement via the key learning goals. The key learning goals for the MBA are as follows:

 

Goal 1: Professional Communication: Graduates of the MBA program will communicate effectively as managers.

Demonstrate capacity to employ written presentation channels to effectively communicate with different levels of personnel and meet organizational goals.

Prepare one page reflection paper students will develop one-page reflection papers that provide proof of knowledge gained in the M.B.A. program. The reflection papers will discuss the knowledge students gained through and applied to assignments in the M.B.A. program. The reflection papers will be evaluated by the M.B.A. instructors to ensure students’ academic progress in the program.

(1) concisely summarize the assignment completed by the student and

 

(2) The reflection papers should be conceptualized as points of evidence and contemplation for students in future interviews, networking opportunities and professional communication.

 

(3) Prove to administrative faculty that the student made academic progress in the M.B.A. program related to the learning objectives. The reflection papers will be prepared in accordance with learning outcomes (written communication) from the M.B.A. portfolio.

(1) In the end of reflection paper, you might think of your written reflections as serving two functions. First, they serve as extremely brief summaries of your work. Second, they serve as an explanation of how you have achieved the learning goals of the MBA program. Ensure the paper is double-spaced with 0 points. Ensure the paper has one inch margins. Ensure your paper is no longer than one page. What is it about this selected work that demonstrates my personal growth that substantiates my competency and acumen with respect to this learning objective? How does this work show that you are now more capable in this area?

 

Growth usually implies that the work was challenging and that you applied effort for success (e.g. learned new material, utilized some personal fortitude, capitalized on a new insight, etc.).

 

Use the writing to convince the reader that you are now more able to wield the benefits of the selected objective. Emphasize how the selected work is evidence of your increased capacity and capability.

 

Be succinct and resist the temptation to simply re-iterate the work: convince and persuade from the evidence that already exists in the work.

 

Ensure that you articulate how your increased competency with this learning objective allows you to better achieve your own goals and motivations for completing a master’s level education in business administration.
