The output of this assessment is a discussion document presented in report format to be tabled at a meeting with top management of the organisation.
Questions 1 and 2 of this assignment should be approached as one integrated assignment.
1. The SHEQ/Risk and/or line manager must endorse the written submission.
2. Students who are unemployed and could not perform workplace-based assessments under the supervision of a workplace host will undergo a compulsory interview.
Based on the work you covered in Study Unit 1, assess and identify the available international standards that could be of relevance to your organisation. Include the following:
a) Describe the difference between Type A and Type B Management System Standards (MSSs), then identify a minimum of ten key ISO Type A & Type B Management System (MS) standards that could be applied within your organisation. Then expand the list with additional MS standards that you deem could be applicable. Indicate the publication stage, based on the harmonised stages codes, for each of the ISO MSSs listed.

b) In addition to the MS Standards identified in (a) above, identify a minimum of two ISO Management Standards (MSs - not MSSs) that could be applied within your organisation. Then expand the list with additional Management Standards that you deem could be applicable. Indicate the publication stage code for each of the ISO MSs listed.

c) Identify a minimum of two Management Standards, from standards bodies other than ISO that could be applied within your organisation (note that this excludes ISO standards adopted and re-titled by any of the National Standards Bodies). Then expand the list with additional Management Standards from other organisations that you deem could be applicable.
Consider the establishment and implementation of an integrated management system (IMS) over the next five-year window. Based on the comprehensive list of standards (from Question 1 above) that could be applicable to your organisation (i.e., ISO MSSs, ISO MSs, as well as standards from other standards bodies):

a) Select at least the five most relevant standards you would advise your organisation's top management to subscribe to. Clearly indicate the motivation behind the selection of each standard.

b) Recommend a prioritised sequence for the implementation of the standards selected in a) above as part of your organisationâsÂ
integrated management system (IMS). Motivate the recommended sequence based on current organisational strategies and/orÂ
objectives.
The student is required to provide a simple description of how he/she did or would have used the concepts and principles in a practical, applied way to improve workresults, referring to the dimensions and applicable Return on Investment (ROI) listed
below:
1. Financial impact.
2. Human development impact.
3. Innovation output.
4. Technology alignment.
5. Alignment with company strategy.

2. Communicating a logical flow argument.
3. Using appropriate language.

Indication of Resources: Students are required to indicate the use of references(authors of textbooks, journals and articles from the online library) as follows:
1. Listing five core references on the cover page of the assessment.
2. Including full details of the references at the end of the assessmentfollowing the Harvard method of referencing with entries organised inalphabetical order in the Reference list.
3. All in-text references correlate with reference list entries.
