The focus of this lab is on Pearson correlation and linear multiple regression analyses. There are two SPSS datasets associated with this lab that you will need to access. Both of them are available on the UR courses website.
For questions 1-2, use the dataset on UR courses with the title “Correlation.”
1. Here is the research question: Is there a relationship between group integration (task and social), performance (self and team) and satisfaction?
a. Write the null hypothesis you would test using parametric statistics (1 point).
b. Write a research hypothesis related to the research question (1 point).
2. Test the null hypothesis from the previous question by running a correlation analysis using SPSS.
a. Cut and paste your output (1 point).
b. Report these results in text format and/or table(s) as is appropriate (use your textbook and what we have discussed in class for guidelines as to the types of information you should be reporting). Indicate what the results mean, relating the information back to the research question. (2 points)
For questions 3-4, use the dataset on UR courses with the title “Multiple regression.”
3. Here is the research question: Is the age of the student and their grade on the midterm able to predict their grade on the final?
a. Write the null hypothesis you would test using parametric statistics. (1 point)
b. Write a research hypothesis related to the research question. (1 point)
c. Indicate which variables are the outcome variable(s) and predictor variable(s). (2 points)
4. Test the null hypothesis from the previous question by running a multiple regression analysis using SPSS.
a. Cut and paste your output (2 points).
b. Report these results in text format and/or table(s) as is appropriate. Explain what these results mean, relative to the research question (4 points).
BONUS QUESTION:
Using SPSS, plot the linear regression between the dependent variable and the significant predictor variable(s).
