SocialIte: Providing Food and Clothing to the Homeless and Low-Income People in Aotearoa

Overview of the Initiative

The aim of this Assessment is to develop a social initiative in order to serve the community and improve lifestyle of people residing across New Zealand. In addition to that, this assessment also aims to highlight rising poverty line and homelessness in New Zealand. The proposed social initiative is to provide food and clothing to the homeless and low-income people in Aotearoa. It has been observed that many organizations also tend to invest in various philanthropic activities that helped them to establish a strong brand image (Orazalin & Baydauletov, 2020). It also helped them to leverage corporate resources at their disposal for doing good (Tamvada, 2020).

The objective of this assessment is to discuss proposal of the social initiative, development of the initiative as well as in creation of social value, financial management of the social value apart from entrepreneurial means value. The social initiative would be distribution of food to the homeless and poor people residing across various regions of New Zealand. it has been observed that poverty line as well as rate of homelessness in New Zealand is increasing at an alarming rate. Specially, during this hard time where country is at lockdown and many people lost their jobs. Many small and large enterprises have focussed to donate money for providing food to these people (poor families) (McAllister et al., 2021).

This enterprise will be named as ‘SocialIte’. The firm will focus on hospitality services such as online tickets booking for hotels and flights operating across New Zealand as well as to provide food to the homeless people. The mission of this firm is to help the poor people and establish a strong “social” brand reputation in the market of New Zealand. On the other hand, the vision of this firm is to become one of the largest providers and develop a strong chain of network for philanthropic activities in New Zealand and Australia.

Providing food to the homeless for free or bare minimum price is the aim of this enterprise that will enable them to establish a strong customer base as well as brand reputation in the market. In addition to that, the enterprise will also be able to gain a competitive edge from the market. It has been highlighted by Amegah (2021), social ventures might create varying degrees of economic and social value depending on mission, operations and vision of a firm.

Social value such as providing or donating food to the homeless people in New Zealand can help to generate higher economic value through investment of shareholders or investors that might also influence their overall business operations. In addition to that, this can help the firm to attract a greater number of shareholders from the external marketplace (Kong, Antwi?Adjei & Bawuah, 2020).

As this is a social initiative, hence, it will require greater approach towards effective shareholder management and financial management (Barauskaite & Streimikiene, 2021). The initiative will be implemented with the help of small enterprise that will be located in New Zealand. In addition to that, the firm will also operate in service industry. This will help them to select workers with great communication skills for this social initiative.
