Read Julian and Foster’s (2011) case study “Design meeting context: A general English course for Burmese Adults”, which is provided in the readings folder in Canvas.
a) Critique and discuss how the needs analysis was conducted in the general English course for Burmese adults, paying close attention to the issues that arose and how they were resolved or not resolved.(50 %)
b) If you were to design a similar general English course for Thai adults living in Bangkok, discuss whether you would conduct the needs analysis in a similar way to Julian and Foster’s (2011) case study. Explain why. (50 %)
Although the weighting is indicated separately for a) and b), note that your entire essay will be marked holistically as one since the two parts are related.
