Task:
Aim
The aim of this course work is to critically investigate the requirement for engineering activities to promote sustainable development and critically appraise the characteristics of renewable energy materials, equipment, processes, and products.
Learning Outcomes
1. Critically investigate the requirement for engineering activities to promote sustainable development applying quantitative techniques where appropriate in the renewable technology area. (ET4p)

Assessment Task
Task 1
I.Design a grid-connected PV system for meeting the electricity demands of a house in the UAE using PVsyst software. (10 marks)
II.Evaluate the potential and economic feasibility of installing the grid-connected PV system in task I.(10 marks)
III.Evaluate the performance of the grid-connected solar PV plant using PV syst software.(15 marks)
IV. Using Renewable toolbox in MATLAB, analyze the V-I characteristic of the PV panel for the test conditions given in laboratory guidelines.
V. Critically appraise the characteristics of renewable energy materials, equipment, processes, and products used in the design.
Task 2
I. Develop a mathematical model of wind turbine and design the wind turbine system using MATLAB simulink. (15 marks)
II.Critically analyze the wind turbine performance by varying the at least two design parameters. (15 marks)
III.Critically investigate the requirement for engineering activities to promote sustainable development applying quantitative techniques where appropriate in the renewable technology area.
