The Role of Emotional Intelligence for Chaplain's Leadership

Summary

The Chaplain’s ability to Connect and lead with Emotional Intelligence is essential to successful leadership. In addition to one’s calling, character, and competence, a chaplain needs to be able to connect well emotionally with people and build relationships, the key to biblical leadership. The Lord created people in His image and that includes emotions.

 

The Lord leads us with emotion. “If you love me keep my commandments” (John 14:15). To this concern, this analytical book review will examine a secular classic on emotional intelligence. Still, the author reveals some key insights that cast light on how we can use our God given emotions and insights about people’s emotions to lead more effectively.  

 

You will write a 2,000–2,400-word critical evaluation of the required text, consisting of a summary, critique, application, and overall evaluation. The summary must focus on the main ideas and significant themes in the book as well as the author’s overall purpose in writing (700-800 words).

 

The critique must contain a well-thought-out biblical interaction with the author’s thesis, main points, and arguments he presents in the book. In other words, use the lens of Scripture to critique the book and determine what ideas are reflective of the Creator’s design and what ideas are humanistic (900-1000 words).

 

The application section must present a clear connection from the book to one’s personal leadership (200-300 words). The overall evaluation of the book must include strengths, weaknesses, and recommendation (200-300 words).

The paper must be accomplished in current Turabian format and have a proper introduction and conclusion and follow the following structure: Title page, Contents page, Introduction, summary, critique, application, overall evaluation (conclusion), bibliography.
