ENGL2326 American Literature
Task
1. Based upon the video "The Lost Generation," which was assigned for Week 4, of all the various artists who inhabited Paris during this period, which of them would you have liked to hang out with and why? Are there any you would have avoided? Why?
2. As you look back over the past four weeks and 500 years of American literature (of which we barely scratched the surface), what sticks out the most in your mind? What, if anything, will you take away from this course? In slog, did you learn anything, and, if so, what?
3. Having looked at the approaches of Booker T. Washington and W. E. B. Du Bois, put yourself back in that time period, then answer the following: whose approach do you think you would have followed? Why?
4. Modernism or Postmodernism Using the links below, review one of the readings for Week 4 and discuss whether you believe it falls under the realm of modernism or postmodernism. Your response will quote from the website(s) to set up your argument, then it will quote from the story itself to support your argument.
