These essays should be two paragraphs (Each paragraph between 8-10 sentences). In these essays you will be presented with an argument. Your first paragraph should explain the argument.
Go through each numbered premise and give a reason that a defender of this argument would believe it to be true. You will be expected to use the strongest possible defense of that premise.
The second paragraph will be an evaluation. You will pick what you consider to be the weakest premise and formulate an objection.
You must remember two rules.
1) Do not object to a conclusion (any sentence with a "therefore" in front of it) and
2) you must object, even if you agree with the conclusion of the argument or the rationales.
Below is Descartes Mind/Body Argument...
1) If there is a property my body has that my mind does not have, then they are not the same thing.
2) My body has a property that my mind does not have
3) Therefore, my mind and my body are not the same thing. Give a rationale for Premise 1 and 2. Give an objection to premise 2.
