Content Creation for UL's Social Media Platforms
Answered

PESO Model

Content Creation (PESO and Curated) Pretend that University of Louisiana- Lafayette’s marketing and communication department has asked you to create content for UL’s social media platforms as a paid social media intern this semester.

1. Give an example of what you would do/create for UL for each of the PESO model types. In a paragraph or two for EACH media type, thoroughly describe what you would post on the UL platforms (copy, visuals, etc.), where you would post it, and your thinking behind your creation. (So tell me about one piece of content you would make for paid media, one piece of content for earned media, one piece of content for shared media, AND one piece of content for owned media.) You should have FOUR pieces of content altogether. And be creative

For example, if I were doing this assignment, I may say this for paid media content: “I would do a push for UL’s new all-online MBA degree for paid media. I would have a video of a 30ish woman in different scenes.

Getting dressed in the morning, dropping her kids at school, at work in a suit in a meeting, then working on the computer in her office while eating lunch, then driving home in traffic, then helping her kids with homework while making dinner, then tucking them into bed, then opening her laptop to a screen of a UL logo then logging into Moodle while smiling. Copy would say something like “Enroll in an all-online MBA program that revolves around your busy schedule, not the other way around.” As a mom who has gone through a master’s program with a child and a full-time job, I know firsthand how hard it is to make it to campus for classes.

Using the visual of a mom rushing around and having a long day but being able to take classes on her time would be an easy targeted ad that could be boosted to the demographics of moms and dads, ages 23-40, who already hold bachelor’s degrees with interests in business. I’d post and promote this ad on Facebook, as a large swath of millennial parents are there (per the data from the Pew Research on social media article we read earlier in the semester) meaning I could easily hit my target audience. I would also post on Instagram, because most millennials are there, also. I’d also promote this on LinkedIn, as there are many young professionals looking to advance their careers with an MBA program.

2. List five accounts that you could follow on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter to curate content for UL’s main page and why. For example, I’d probably follow the Sun Belt page so I could grab relevant UL info or photos to share. And actually, UL follows The Kneaux and grabs our content sometimes! Each answer is worth 10 points for a total of 50. Remember, spelling, grammar, clarity of through, book/PPT references and thoroughness count.
