1. Read chapters 4 and 5 (Mingst et al) and watch the History Channel documentary, the Cuban Missile Crisis.

2. In a summary, explain the concept of polarity and levels of analysis. How do realists justify this concept?. 1 paragraph.

3. In a summary, describe the tools of diplomacy/statecraft and what were available to the US in dealing with Cuba and the Soviet Union (see chapter 5). 1 paragraph.

4. Using the individual level of analysis, review the Cuban Missile Crisis and objectively evaluate or judge the decisions made by Fidel Castro, John F. Kennedy, and Nikolai Kruschev (1- 2 pages).
