This study is to examine the idea of how transmedia storytelling has impacted on the fan culture and how it has created more content creation for users on different platforms.

The topic for the major essay can be of your own choosing, or you may wish to consult with your tutor prior to submitting your abstract and plan. The perspective you take in this essay is up to you – you can focus on a key issues you consider important in contemporary media culture, present a critical interpretation of media evolution, discuss the broader cultural impact of games in everyday life, or address ethical and/or political concerns relating to media practices. This option is for those who have good grasp of the theoretical material and wish to extend their critical thinking and writing skills.
Abstracts are an important part of academic writing – most journal articles and research papers provide a short one-paragraph overview of the discussion to come. Your abstract should be no more than 250 words: a cohesive paragraph that gives a clear outline of your argument, approach and key concepts. The essay plan should be no more than one or two pages, in point form, briefly detailing main points in the introduction, body and conclusion.

Please ensure that your major essay responds to feedback provided by your tutor on your abstract and essay plan. Plate note that in order to receive a pass grade this assessment must include evidence of critical thinking, a structured argument and discussion of at least five of the unit reading plus at least five other academic sources.
