Gastronomy Research Presentation - Assessment Brief

Evaluation Criteria

This assessment provides an exciting learning opportunity to share knowledge gained from your research in Assessment One Annotated Bibliography and Assessment Two Gastronomy Research Essay with an audience. Everyone in class will have undertaken different research and become somewhat of an “in-class expert” on their chosen topic. Sharing this expertise with fellow classmates presents a good opportunity for us to learn from each other.

To fit the limited period for each presentation, students must critically evaluate their research and share their knowledge in a presentation that shows how their topic relates to the overarching subject of gastronomy and the different lens we view the world, which potentially has an impact on our personal views, how we work professionally and our views within society. Examples of equipment, samples, media, and books are suggested to enhance your presentation, and engagement with the audience.

• Presentation explores concepts of gastronomy.  

• Explained motivation and interest in the topic
• Clearly defined the topic

• All information was clear and appropriately demonstrated depth of knowledge.  

• Illustrated critical thinking through the appropriate use of research material. APA6 intext referencing on each slide (16)
• Interesting well-developed content supported by relevant examples (17)
• Effective use of multiple elements (e.g. media, samples) and content combined to deliver a presentation that engaged others

• A clear, planned summary of the research material

• Reflected on the topic’s importance from personal, professional, gastronomic and within societal perspectives

• Your presentation: Able to confidently answer audience questions with clear explanations

• Other presentations: Engaged in discussion with well-constructed, thoughtful questions

Communication; presentation delivery: 

• Student introduces themselves, the topic, and interest in the topic. Student has professional dress and presentation

 • Suitable level of confidence and enthusiasm – personal interaction used to good effect e.g. eye contact. Asks questions of audience

• Clear audible discussion enabling easy comprehension

• Timing well managed illustrating preparation – notes do not intrude
