The Cuban Missile Crisis: A Turning Point in the Cold War

Background of the Cuban Missile Crisis

The 13 days political and military impasse between the US leaders and the Soviet Union leaders was focused on the installation of nuclear armed Soviet missiles in Cuba. With understanding the nuclear bombs being too close to the USA, President John F Kennedy decided to notify the Americans and focused on the idea of employing military force that would help in neutralizing the threat to national security (Kennedy). This led to a political imbalance between the Soviets and the US for a longer period until the moment Cuba was completely free of any nuclear weapons from the soviets with the proper pressure exerted by the USA government in all ways.

The importance of this crisis can often be stated as one of the closest moments when the cold war between the USA and USSR was about to take the shape of nuclear war and an annihilation between the two Nations that would directly affect the entire world. The end of the Cuban missile crisis came with the Soviet premier Nikita Khrushchev coming up with the order to withdraw the muscles from Cuba, which ended the entire crisis. The aftermath of the crisis was first seen through the naval quarantine between the two nations, which continued until the Soviets were a green to remove their IL-28 bombers from Cuba. This further led to the end of the USA quarantine as well. Apart from that, one can consider that the Cuban missile crisis was one of the breaking points between the tension that revolved around the United States and the Soviet Union to become the superpowers of the world. This in its way we brought the USA to the forefront of being called the superpower globally.
