Promoting Application-Based Education in India

Exploratory Structure/Outline:

Use this outline when writing your exploratory essay. In fact, an exploratory essay is likely different from any other essay you have written. Instead of writing to convince an audience of the validity of a thesis, you will be writing to find out about a problem and perhaps to form some preliminary conclusions about how you might position yourself concerning the issue. You will already have a topic/issue/problem in mind, as you will have completed your topic proposals prior to this assignment.

Use the previously articulated issue/problem from your topic proposals to develop background, complexity, and significance surrounding your issue. Establish for your readers why you are interested in this issue and why they should engage in reflection upon the issue by posing a research question.

For this essay, you will compile three of the five sources (required for your final research argument) to reflect upon concerning your issue. Your sources should not agree with each other; they should take opposing viewpoints surrounding the issue. For each of your two sources, you will give a summary of your source and their position on the argument, your response to that position, and you will discuss how a cumulative reading of that source is shaping your thinking and/or leading to more questions.

Teacher centric/traditional method of education with lack of integrative-based learning.

The Indian  government must promote application-based education in the public and private schools.

One reason the Indian government should promote application-based education is because application- based learning would encourage an entrepreneurial spirit and solves the problem of unemployment.

Another reason that Indian government should promote application-based education is because application-based learning not only develops problem solving skills but also requires an integrative approach to applying factual knowledge.

The cost of applying application-based learning would be higher than the traditional based learning. In addition to this, training teachers to adapt  application-based learning approach could be time consuming and  resource extensive.

Traditional based learning provides an opportunity to conduct summative assessments at the end of entire course wherein the grades are norm-referenced and follows course standards which is typically based on weighted quarters and a final exam. However, this methodology discourages students involvement or choice in course selection and daily classroom activities which thereby promotes rote learning.

Therefore,  the investment on an application-based learning would inherit practical knowledge among students. Moreover, teachers play a vital role in shaping the career of future generations. Hence, the Indian government should ensure to select/trained highly qualified staff who are ready to adapt application-based education system.
    
The Indian Education system is compromising the quality of education by following teacher centric traditional method instead of adapting to application-based system. The traditional based education is very far from the use of science and technology involves imparting theoretical knowledge with prime focus on summative assessment at the end of entire course. Moreover, this system promotes unidirectional learning where students are adhered to follow teacher/instructors’ method rather than thinking out of the box.

The application-based education promotes integrative approach which focuses on higher level thinking, and demonstrate an ability to connect, apply, and synthesize information coherently from disparate contexts and perspectives and make use of these new insights in different contexts.

The traditional based learning provide focus on theory which kills the imagination of the students, and practical knowledge is completely neglected. When these students pass the exam, they forget all the things they have studied due to a lack of practical experience.  In India, parents and teachers expect their students to score high in the exam rather than getting quality knowledge.  When smart, hardworking, and merit student do not get good opportunities for higher education, they need to travel to another country for quality-based education and better employment options.

Therefore, the Indian government should promote application-based education for the overall growth of the country.
