This assessment addresses the following subject learning  outcomes: 


a) Analyse the employment relationship, and evaluate the shared responsibilities between employers, management, human resource specialists, and employees. 


b) Evaluate the procedures and practices used for  recruiting, selecting and remunerating employees. 


c) Evaluate how HRM is responding to current business trends, opportunities and challenges whilst meeting  the needs of an organisation or a department. 


d) Assess the training requirements and design a training and orientation program. 


e) Critically review the knowledge, skill and concepts needed to resolve actual human resource problems and issues. 


f) Appraise and apply the legal, ethical, and legislative requirements in relation to the management of human resources in hospitality and event firms. 


g) Evaluate the responsibilities of management, HRM specialists, managers, and employees in managing the employment relationship in a unionised and non?unionised environment. 


Context: 
This assessment allows students to explore the areas of employee motivation, benefits and incentives as discussed within the compensation strategy of Human Resources Management (HRM). Human Resources teams and managers are required to train, develop, and motivate staff. This assessment will encourage future hospitality leaders to develop skills to motivate and encourage productivity while maintaining employee wellbeing.  

Instructions: 
This assessment requires students to design a compensation program activity for employees that will increase productivity and motivation is linked to the theories and concepts from within the course and supported with academic sources.  


 Students are required to  
Design a one (1) page poster that will promote the compensation activity to employees and explains the object and purpose of the compensation activity  

Develop a theory and industry rationale that analyses and justifies the effectiveness of the activity in achieving your purpose that can be shared with employees who participate in the compensation program. Students are required to use concepts from the course, definitions from the textbook, and academic sources.   


Students are encouraged to be creative and fully design and develop a poster that details the compensation program and expected outcomes. This new compensation activity must be justified and linked to all aspects of HRM and supported by theory 
and concepts from academic sources, located in the advertisement. All definitions of concepts must be taken from the course textbook. 


• Students must refer, in text, to a minimum of 8 relevant academic sources including the textbook, as well as HRM professional body materials to show competency in the assessment. Failure to meet this standard will result in a  fail grade for this assessment. 

Submission Guidelines:   
1. Typed and formatted following the Assessment Formatting Guidelines and uploaded to Turnitin on time on the due date.  


2. The total word count, excluding references, must be within 10% (+ or ?) of the assessment word count. 


3. To be submitted in electronic form as a word?processe
4. You are expected to refer, in text, to a minimum of eight (8) academic journal articles, which may be supported by industry journal articles or relevant textbooks, plus other credible sources as required, in order to show competency in the assessment.  


5. All referencing must be in accordance with the Academic Writing Guide: APA available via Student Hub.
