Along with the world Barista Championship, the coffee companies were found displaying and making their best product for the exhibitors. Each day ended with a different event serving important purpose as well as entertainment for the attendees. The preliminary round of the world barista championship began on the first day. The world of coffee also hosted lectures, a roaster village, and competitions for design and product development in the field of coffee. Another interesting part of the event was Automating Excellence that was a partnership between Cup of Excellence and World Coffee Events to manifest coffees that were made on super-automated machines. The automated machines would develop coffee in the highly developed fully automated machines. The event also showcased a different lane of six vintage espresso machines that was thoroughly enjoyed by the attendees which displayed to show how the coffee generation has evolved over the years. Fifty-six national champions and competitors gathered to compete for the position of World Barista Championship in front of their fans. The representative of Poland, Agnieszka Rojewska was the winner of the World barista championship. The winner, Agnieszka Rojewska was not the first time participator. The world barista championship is consists of the winners of the national barista championship that are operated by SCA, Specialty Coffee association (Nunes et al., 2013). The event is hosted in different city each year and I write about the world of barista 2018 that occurred in Amsterdam.

The purpose of the report was to give elaborate information to the readers about the world of Coffee and its event that took place for finding the world experts of baristas. Through this professional blog post the readers will find enough information regarding the world barista championship. I main purpose was to give a brief idea about the event. I also chose 800 word counts for the report since it was ideally the suitable. The blog was written targeting the coffee enthusiastic and for people above 16 years of age.
The theme that I selected was to write about creativity in a field that is often paid attention. Although the coffee culture is quite famous in the Europe the purpose of writing on the chosen topic was to promote the consumption of coffee. I am very keen person when it comes to different culture and seeing different taste evolving from different culture was what fascinated me to select the subject.
It is often the case in the Amsterdam where one can find coffee culture and I have always been a part of it. The world of coffee is the most loved coffee trade show that was held a month ago from 20th to 23rd June 2018 in Amsterdam and I was excited to be a part of it. World of coffee is an event where thousands of coffee lovers, coffee industry seller and influencers be part of the event. With the entire busy schedule, it becomes a hard to take out time for other activities. The coffee industry is an expanding industry that is popular in most adult group (Cleveland et al., 2016). When I was offered to be a part of the World of Coffee I knew I just had to make time for it.
The Winner
When I arrived in the venue, I felt overwhelmed by seeing people come from great distance to participate in the competition. They were enjoying serving their products. It was such a great feeling when I got to interact with the participants.
“How did you get interest in learning the skills of preparing great cup of coffee?” I asked a participant.
“I have been working in a coffee shop since high school and discovered the love for coffee while being there” the participants replied.
The four days of the World Barista Championship was a celebration for the coffee lovers though there was a constant competition among the participants. It was wonderful to watch various cultures bring their preparation 4 milk drinks, 4 original signature drinks and 4 espressos to exacting standards in only 15minutes. Between competitors there were chance to sample international specialty roasters as well at the WBC Espresso Bar. Witnessing fifty-six champions from around the globe being enthusiastic and passionate in the four days of fierce competition for prestigious title and trophy was a pure joyful vista. The competition was not only a mere competition but also a delightful experience of learning. There was information I gained from highly qualified coffee experts. Getting in the sustainability forum was defiantly the best experience. Sustainability forum was an enriched space in the event created for the learners seeking knowledge about caffeine from the experts. The sustainability Forum was a space for sharing knowledge and ideas, connecting with industry professional and exploring the possible opportunities of getting involved in transferring the industry toward a more sustainable future.
I was thoroughly enjoying my cup of happiness, was able to get my caffeine fixed at the espresso bar, the brew bar or the cupping room. I was thoroughly entertained through various engrossing activities. Another eye-catching feature that dragged my attention instantly was the memory lane of vintage espresso machines that was able to show how the coffee generation has evolved over the years (Angelini, Fiorani & Ciaschini, 2017). Also, the expo launched automated machines to produce cup of excellence, an initiative to bring together super-automatic machine to create a separate space for the attendees to enjoy finest coffee. Like every year, World of coffee invited industry respected experts who enlighten the coffee professionals, educate, inspire and motivate them to achieve their goals and expand their knowledge about coffee. Finally after four days, I was extremely excited to know the winner of intense hard work showcasing talents from different parts of the globe. Out of fifty-six competitors each representing their nation the title of 2018 world Barista Championship was taken by Agnieszka Rojewska who was representing Poland. The program ended with an ultimate after-party later for attendees and others as well. People around me were found engrossed in World of Coffee, they were enjoying the event from the beginning till the end and a huge part was revolving around the prestigious title.
The four days of entertainment was over and seeing all the efforts and passions I can clearly state that every competitors taking part in the World Barista championship were all master of their craft. It was an absolute treat for me being part of the event and seeing the great artists bringing knowledge, technique and determination for the biggest stage of coffee and representing their coffee culture and to the community globe. Communicating with the experienced professionals was one of the rare as well as valued experiences I got. Coffee industry is an industry that attracts young people (Tucker, 2017). Since it is one of the fields that attract mostly young people who work it as transitional job while perusing post-secondary education it is an extremely enthusiastic field where the desire and energy to learn and display is extraordinary.
Completing the creative writing exercise from class showed me, how to create a convincing character. I made the main character a fun loving person interested in different culture coming together. The student got the opportunity to be part of one of the best event that brings people around the world to compete for the best barista title. The main character enjoyed witnessing the creativity of the participants, the character was also a keen learner who was eager to learn from the coffee professionals of coffee.
After displaying the main character it was time for choosing the time and perspective. During the classes I learned I would like to write the report in past tense where the event has been experience and it would be easier to write the past experience.
During the class I learned about story theme. I learned about 36 different themes and it is the pursuit theme that I found suitable according to my story. While getting the opportunity of attending the World Barista Championship the main character got the opportunity to see and learn something new as it has always been the main character’s trait.
The exercises done in the class helped me writing about the place and the time. The story mentioned represented a vivid description of the place. The story describes the type of feeling one will get when engage in an event as such or the very similar event.
The World of Coffee is the organizer of the World Barista Championship and the organizers have been using the world barista championship to bring forth global talents and letting them use the platform. The platform is also used for the coffee industry influencers and experts to interact with consumers and imparts knowledge to the young learners.
Finding the way to start the project was the major challenge however, once I began the project it was easy for me. I would like to set goals from the next time and also doing a time management will be my target from next time.
From the classes and the present report I will try dividing tasks in smaller part as it will help me to complete the task on time and start the project as early as possible.
