The project that is going to be implemented is about the building design and the necessary requirement of the newly design building will be discussed. The main aspect behind the design of a building is to satisfy the customers or the people those are going to live on the buildings after the construction (Ashworth & Perera 2018). The designer of the building must keep in mind the need of the people. The need of the people with the desire is must that is to be implemented while designing the building. This is the primary requirement to assess the need and the design of the people. After the assessment of the people need and the desire, then the architecture of the design is made based on the assessment. The design that is going to be made for the people of the building must be sustainable and cost effective too (Smol 2015). The construction of the building will require different engineers for different purpose. The project may consist only one designer who will design the whole design of the building construction. For the construction of a building core team is required. As there are different services that are implemented on the construction of the building by the different expertise like the service engineer, structural engineer and the architect. The service engineers are consists of the electrical engineer and mechanical engineers (Govindan, Shankar & Kannan 2016). For the designing of the building many designers are required for the different aspect like the designers of the landscape, designers of the interior and some acoustic designers, fire designers who will work as their specialised way. The design elements will be decided as per the desire and the need of the people and as per that the designers of the various department will design using the necessary elements for the design.

For the designing of the building various activities are taken into consideration. The activities that are related with the design of the building is as follows:

Activities Related to Building Design

Fire safety is the primary requirement for the design as this is related to the safety of the people who are going to live in the building after the construction. The fire safety will be designed by the fire engineers so that the building will be safe from the fire (Zhou, Goh & Li 2015).

Site safety is another aspect that is needed to be taken off by the designers as the site safety is also provide the safety of the people of the site.

The landscaping is done by the engineers of the landscape during the design phase so that the implementation is done properly while constructing the building as per the design.

Materials are the core part of any kind of construction the material management is the duty of the engineers who are going to work using the materials (Pauwels & Terkaj 2016). The materials are consist of designs, plans and the process of the execution that how the material is implemented in the project of the construction.

The architect of the project need to specify the required activities that will be implemented along with the building construction (Fulford & Standing 2014). For the large project like the building construction it is necessary to design the arrangements for the parking so that the people of the building will be able to park their vehicles in their building premises and they don’t have to be worried about the security of their vehicles.


The exterior designers of the construction will design the maintenance design for the exterior wall for lasting long after usage.

Acoustic design is not the desire of the every people. The people who are having the requirement of the sound proof environment will be given the acoustic room having sound protection (Kapelko et al., 2015). The acoustic engineer will be design the acoustic implementation in the construction.

The security is the activity that will be implemented in the building for providing the security to the people that are going to use the buildings after the construction complete. The all aspects of the security must be designed by the designers of the project (Dong et al., 2017).

The main job of the structural engineers is to first design the structure of the building properly then after the design is made then they have to implement the designs properly to the construction.

The project manager need to see the communication service of the area where the construction is going to be done. So that the people of the building will not be face any issues regarding the communication.

Construction Components Affecting Design Management

The interior designers of the construction will design the design of the interior cladding or the interior wall. After the construction is complete then the interior design will be made.

The designers have to make sure that the food service is available for the people who are going to live in the buildings.

The telecommunication is the primary necessity for the people now a days so the designers and the engineers need to make sure that the people will be provided with the proper service of the telecommunication.

The electrical engineer will do the job that are related with the electrical part. After the implementation of the whole construction the electrical engineer will do the whole lighting of the system.

Water supply is the much needed aspect of any building so the project managers needed to design the water supply properly so that the people will get enough supply of the water whenever they need.

The electrical engineer will design that how the electricity will be provided to the each part of the building. Electricity must be provided to the each and the every people that are going to live after the completion of the project.

The maintenance is must for the any type of construction to run in the long term. As the time goes the construction become weaker so regular maintenance is necessary for the constructed building.

The structural engineer and the architect of the project need to design the sewerage system in the construction so that the drainage of the water flow goes smoothly without making any kind of dirt in the building premises.

For the all engineers and the designers that are associated with the project of the building construction must make a schedule. A schedule is must for completing the project within the estimated time and cost.

The architect of the construction need to design the vertical transportation so that the buildings are connected with each other so the people can travel into the building with ease.

The design management mainly assures the business perspective of the business side for satisfying the need of the customer. The first component is the environmental and the sustainability feature which will be the main criteria of the people that will be using the construction. Health care and the safety are the components that the project managers needed to include in the project (Alzraiee, Zayed & Moselhi 2015). The architecture of the construction need to be constructed correctly so that it will not collapse afterwards. The aspects of the engineering need to be taken care of by the all engineers associated with the project. The construction material change can affect the design as per the design the materials are brought. Whenever the construction need a new machinery the designers need to design new implementation of the machine. If the design is properly followed then the outcome of the product will be of good quality. Industrialization is also important for the design management as it is one of the core part of the construction. The information technology is the main need for the people now a days and it is associated with the construction management as it will provide the telecommunication for the people of the constructed building (Chiang, Tao & Wong 2015). After the completion of the project of the construction it is important for the engineers to provide maintenance and it will affect in the market value or the business side of the design management.

Impact of Building Information Modelling (BIM)

The building information system is a computerized technique to design and plan the processes and the activities of the construction. Many of the client of the project demands the use of BIM for successfully meet their demands (Borrmann et al., 2015). The BIM fulfils the client demand and the activities of the construction. Like in this case study there are several activities that are given like the health, safety, sustainability, environment, materials. IT, and the aspect of the engineering is met by the BIM. As the project is of the construction it associated with the various attributes so using the BIM will be beneficial for the construction company as it meet all the designing attributes and the scheduling part in order to complete the construction in time for providing the customer satisfaction. The BIM also improves the business side of the management as the customer are attracted by the offers it provides to the construction of the building (Volk, Stengel & Schultmann 2014). Implementation of the BIM is cost effective and it also efficient while working in the building construction project. So it s clear that the use of the BIM affects in the all activities of the construction.
