Body language plays a huge roll when it comes to communication. In this constantly travelling world, it has become imperative that everyone knows all the diverse dialects and various aspects of language. But, if one does not understand any specific language, that person is forced to rely on the body language and the way of talking of the other person (1). In the video titled “If Waiters were Honest”, we can clearly see that the waiters are being undeniable rude or, as some can say, excruciatingly honest. The people in the video can be seen to be saying the things that they feel without any pretentious filter or any concern of the accepted societal norms. The words they use and the way they deliver them are clearly contrasting. Their tone is polite throughout yet, the things that they are saying are not so polite and are borderline offensive. Their body language can be observed to be that of an elegant employee, who believes that the customer should be treated with utmost generosity.
While watching the video, the thing that I noticed the most was how their body language entirely differed from the content of their speeches. If one were to only look at their expressions, one would believe that they were being extremely sweet and might tip them for their politeness as well. But, if one were to only listen what they were saying, the person would obviously be shocked and might get offended. Body language, thus, becomes an extremely crucial part of any form of communication (2).
