This assessment builds on work undertaken for Assessment item 1 (Situational Analysis Report) and focuses on identifying and explaining the main visitor markets and destination management arrangements and for your selected destination region.
For this assessment, you are required to prepare a report that analyses the main visitor markets and destination management arrangements and for your selected destination region (the DR that you used for Assessment 1).
The report should be presented as follows:
1.Visitor Markets – this section should identify and explain the main visitor markets to the DR.
2. Important Stakeholders – this section should identify the main government and industry stakeholder organisations for the DR and explain their roles and responsibilities in relation to destination management, development and marketing for the DR.
Visitor market
Bali is a land full of mysteries worth exploring regarding culture, people, nature, forests, temples not forgetting its magnificent beaches and lake (Bali Golden Tour, 2018). The experience and feeling are hard to fathom not unless someone has visited Bali once then there is that compelling force to go back and stay for good in such a place. Bali island lies in the heart of a tropical climate, and the topography of the island is composed of mountains, valleys, and lakes among other physical features. As the island of the god, there are numerous temples named by the people of Bali such as Thousands of Temple.
Temples
The Bali Tanah Lot temple is situated in the coastal plain of the Beraban countryside. The temple is stationed on a rock estimated to be 3 acres and is easily reachable through walking since it is just 20 meters away from the Coastal lip. This temple has become one of the most popular tourist destinations due to the spectacular panoramic view of the sun. Pedanda Sakti Wau Rau is one of the founders of this temple, and he came from the region of East Java and was heading to Bali region around the 16th century. It is while meditating on the rock where the temple was built on that he felt under the conviction that he suggested construction of a building dedicated for worshiping God and that is how the temple came into existence.Forests
The Bali Ubud monkey forest is a small rainforest infested with a troop of monkeys and other different tropical animals. The forest is strategically located as it is situated in the heart of Ubud village. The name Wanara Wana in Balinese spread out rapidly providing the continuity of the monkey habitat in Bali (Hastings, 2018). The local community around the forest has been beneficial in maintaining the habitat so that they can protect and preserve the wild animals.
Beaches
Beaches such as the Bali Lovina beach have become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the northern region of Bali due to the calm ocean water, the black sand and fantastic sea creatures such as the dolphins. One favorite wonder in Lovina is watching the dolphins during a tour. Other amazing places in Lovina include the Hot water Banjar, the Buddhist shrine and the Gigit waterfall.
Markets
Candi Kuning market is an ancient market situated close to the entrance of the Botanical garden. It is in this market that one can find an array of fresh fruits, vegetables and spices together with the exotic type of flowers such as the orchids and roses. One will find spices such as the pepper and turmeric (Dolnicar, 2008). There is various kind of souvenir found in this place worth taking home to friends and family. The market is also surrounded by restaurants where tourists can rest while taking their meals.
Museums
The Bali Subak Museum is considered as a Balinese traditional agriculture equipment museum. It has archived ancient documentation that serves as a reminder to the young generation of the Subak organization that has a global reputation (Turopia, 2018). The Subak museum harbors exhibitions such as farmers tools and has a visual audio section that narrates about the Subak activities in developing water irrigation techniques such a tunnel channeling water from a pool to the farm.

Art and culture
The Batuan village is famous for displaying Balinese artwork and paintings making it a popular tourist destination center (Hastings, 2018). The village has been praised due to the excellent artwork displaying Balinese culture and traditions. Some of the work done in this place include the wood panel carving and the ancient Balinese painting. The Batuan paintings are dark accompanied by crowded representations of legendary themes borrowed from the daily life, monsters, and witches.
The Indonesian Marine Tourism Association
The Association strives to ensure that the Marine Tourism and Travel is one of the vital sectors in enhancing sustainable development in Indonesia agitating for environmental conservation so that Indonesia becomes the leading maritime nation in the world.
Functions
It aims at improving the welfare of tourism industry players while enhancing sustainable tourism. It also strives in strengthening the managerial capacity of tourism enterprises (Bali Tourism Board, 2018). Lastly, the association contributes to conserving the marine environment as it is considered an asset is focusing on primary sectors in the development of marine tourism.
Bali village
It is a non-profit making entity formed in 1995. Bali village has a reputation as the premier gateway linking Bali and the rest of the world. Though it began with a bunch of partners, as of today, it has grown to more than 200 people (Bali Tourism Board, 2018). It labors to raise Bali’s profile to global standards in promoting the unique tourist attractions and the safety of Bali while encouraging a harmonious culture. Bali village fraternity has commanded respect for itself as the island’s marketing and promotional entity.
The primary goal and function are to boost the promotion of quality tourism through initiatives such as promotion, marketing, and sharing of valuable information. It also facilitates the empowerment of its members by encouraging them to participate in the global marketplace that is highly competitive.
Bali bears the responsibility of focusing on the future. It works continuously in opening new opportunities and innovating techniques to help members accrue increased benefits. The Bali village aims at strengthening its networks and expanding its endeavors in reaching global markets.
Through its integrated organizational structure, Bali village can coordinate all aspects of tourism ranging from accommodations to tours and public relations. Bali village is best positioned to lead the course for achieving sustainable tourism in Bali.
The association was formed with the primary interest being to serve and protect the interests of people from Menjebatani. It addresses the interests of all parties at stake with regards to issues relating to the interests of its participants in general and also in tourism (Bali Tourism Board, 2018). The association also promotes and maintains harmony and equity through developing cooperative engagements among the group members and others outside the tourism spectrum.
Function
Aims at enhancing the role as one of the primary actors and producers in the regional tourism sector to increase revenue and try to embrace the free market age. It serves to improve the impression of Indonesian tourism through giving satisfaction, security and guarantee protection of the vested interests for its service users and other parties that are interested without sabotaging the interests of its members. It increases the efforts and participation of its members as a move to improve the capabilities that entail professional skills and financial support to match international standards.
Initially, when this organization was established, PRINCESS stood for Business Association Indonesia Recreation Park and began in 1977 under the leadership of a group manager of Jakarta Tourism Objects among others as they felt the need to dedicate themselves to promote and further tourism.
However, it is after convening a conference in 1989 that it becomes crucial to follow the pace of PRINCESS in achieving development in the field of tourism in the country and the acronym no longer stood for Recreation Park Business Association. Contrary it now represented society responsible for coordinating tourist destinations and attractions in Indonesia.
PRINCESS is an association that collects and manages information regarding tourist attractions with a clear goal and dedication to assist the government in developing kepariwisatan (Bali Tourism Board, 2018). PRINCESS partners with the government in providing incentives and guidelines necessary for promoting the growth of tourism and tourism attraction sites through programs that are business oriented on the side while still supporting those that tourism attraction oriented on the other side.
Functions
Enhancing and developing tourism destinations to build tourism archipelago and in the diaspora. Also, it instills and nurtures the sense of patriotism for the country through presentations of tourist attractions that capture the life and history of the Indonesian man regarding culture, customs, and traditions. Strengthening and improving the management capacities with the aim of providing efficient service delivery.
Pacific Asia Travel Association
It was established in 1951 and is the recognized body in the region of Pacific Asia Travel and tourism. It dedicates itself to promoting what can be considered as the remaining tourism frontier. The Association is uniquely structured and has far-reaching endeavors that have helped the many angles of tourism in Bali Province.
Functions
PATA aims at facilitating growth, value, and quality of the Pacific Asia region of which Bali is one of the places covered.
Conclusion
Bali has been identified as one of the most tourist attraction that has exciting features such as the temples, beaches, markets, monkey forests, and traditions. Thus, it has a lot to offer to the tourists both locally and internationally. The stakeholders have a vital role in ensuring that the development of tourism benefits both the locals and the parties concerned. The conservation of environment becomes the number one priority in promoting sustainable tourism that has a long-term mission of preserving biodiversity. Culture preservation is also essential in ensuring that people hold and respect their traditions which are to be passed from one generation to another.
