Factors Affecting Sustainability in the Tourism Industry

Question:

Discuss about the Academic Literacies through Exploring Sustainability.

Sustainability is one such aspect of the business which plays a very significant role in long-term growth of a business. Hence, the business entity should consider this factor at top priority for the accomplishment of desired targets. In other words, sustainability is a balance of various factors which are important in the life of a person or anything (Hillary, 2017). Tourism is one such industry in today's scenario which is working on its peak so the factors involved in sustaining this sector have been given a preference in this essay.

In present time it is a necessity for people to travel or traveling is taken as a passion by most of the people. Hence, the growth in the tourism industry of every country is rising at a very fast speed. Many countries’ economies are completely associated with the growth of its tourism sector. And hence, it has been noted that the term sustainability plays a significant role in the development and advancement of an economy. On the other hand, it is a medium through which a country can spread its culture and heritage worldwide (López et al., 2018). A lot of money has been spent by the legal bodies in development and maintenance of this section of the economy so as to have the best outcome.

Traveling is just like a meditation for most of the people, while some of them do it just for fun, others for their benefits, business travels are also very common, traveling by purpose, budgeted traveling, taking traveling as a leisure etc.

There are so many organizations coming up in this area of business which is providing best potential experience for the people to travel across nations (Kandachar & Halme, 2017). Many big and small entities that are providing an access to its customers to have the best experience while they are spending their money are present in this market. Many other businesses are also associated with it like hospitality etc. Hence, a lot is being generated with a step ahead to have a tour by some individual in any nation in the world (Valiente Espino, 2018). It is, therefore, a tool of connectivity among the world which binds us as a whole.

People from the country as well as those who come to travel contribute to such scenarios by being a good traveler as well as by being a good guide.

In the tourism, industry sustainability plays a very significant role in this industry is fast growing and there are long-term operations which happen for decades in this sector (Lang & Murphy, 2014). So from a point of view that business in this industry is very much outgrowing and profitable as well as the competition is very high on the other hand. There are various other sections of society and factors where sustainability concerns. These factors are environmental, social and economic (Arraiza et al., 2018). The tourism industry is not only a service industry but it also provides intangible as well as tangible goods to the people who are associated with it. Hence, it impacts many sections.

Environmental Factors

An environment is completely related to having a smooth and very much conservative use of resources and everything which is belonging to this sector. Like in tourism there is a lot of use of many factors such as historical places, monuments, animals, various sites etc. which is a part of this environment and have to be taken care of for long-term usage. Likewise, people keep on going to these places in order to travel and have an experience of it. This is a very important aspect of this sector to conserve and not to destroy any of such places by any means. For this, they must be given guidelines and rule book about how they might have to behave (Schoormann et al., 2016). This is a very important point in order to have sustainability and long-term existence of the place for generations in order to have knowledge of the medieval period.

Social factor relates to the friendliness of a person towards people or places it is visiting. Also, the community itself is also responsible for such an act (Mmoneke & Anowai, 2018). It is very important to give back nature as it has gifted us many things which are very prominent. The tourism is also required to develop and design policies concerning to the welfare of the society by any means such as- lending jobs to disable people, conserving animals, development of the economy of the country, community development etc. Continuous contribution to the society will lead to further development of the organization as well as the industry which will lead to more inappropriate returns than every.

Last is the economic factor which is very important and moves hand in hand with the tourism sector (Doppelt, 2017). As this section of society increases the value of products and services it renders it directly fluctuates the economic growth of a country. Hence sustainability in the growth of an economy is enhanced by the tourism sector. More and more people traveling to places will in return make good revenue for the domestic people of the nation which leads to a growth of economic factors (Babych, 2018). Strategies to attract more and more people to this section have been made in order to have the volume of tourists so as to have revenues. Services of this sector have been continuously upgrading and developing which is a positive sign of sustainable development.

Sustainability is a way of maintaining resources for their long-term use. So for instance tourism sector uses many of these resources directly and indirectly which is a very much concerned topic of evaluation. Maintenance of such resources is a must as they are the only sources of income in the tourism sector (Silvius & Planko, 2017). To boost the growth of this section the legal bodies of every country invest a huge amount of money to preserve the legacy of a country in terms of monuments, historical places and sometimes many artificial sites and theme have been constructed. This in return helps to spread the culture of the nation as well as helps to be on top of the list of traveling for a person worldwide.

Social Factors

Government plays a very important part in conserving the legacy for a long period of time which is very obvious and predictable (Baumeister & Onkila, 2018). All the people associated with it also have to be in coordination with the government o as to proceed with the plan of conservation. Likewise, plans have to be made in order to save the tourists sites. The tourism vendors have to specify the details regarding visiting places and as a very good and ecological traveler, a person should contribute to the effort which government if trying to make.

Secondly, all the industries which are associated with this tourism sector must be very strict and very particular in regards with the movement of this section so that they also contribute best in sustaining the legacy of their nation by simultaneously doing business (Schaltegger & Wagner, 2017). The governing authorities itself cannot amplify the reason to increase sustainability in this section everyone has to contribute their part. Putting a light on various factors in regards to tourism one such factor relates to the formation of rules and regulation for a particular site in a country. This will help in saving the same course of action from the various different kinds of people who are visiting a place from various nations. Simultaneously, a code of conduct in regards to this section will be made which will automatically make the people behave in the same manner (Ferguson & Souza, 2016). A guideline in regards to the same has to be made and circulated amongst the travelers as well as the people who are working under that. Strict violating actions should be taken if anyone tries to break them. This is a way of long-term sustainability will bring discipline even amongst the travelers who have been going places.

Hygiene is a very important factor which is considered nowadays. Likewise, when a person travels it should maintain the level of hygiene at places as well regardless the reason destroying it is not good for nature (Crane & Matten, 2016). Throwing garbage, not following rules etc. may risk to may future problems which should be strictly avoided so that there must not be any kind of miss happening as well as the destruction of the wonderful sites which have been naturally gifted.

Artificial tourism sites like amusement parks, theme parks etc. also maintains there decorum to entertain people and maintain their long-term sustainability. Huge money is being invested in implementing such programs which have to be taken care so that there are least chances of occurrence of any kind of problem (Thurman, 2016). The coming generations should not miss the pleasure of the natural and historical monuments and beauty and here sustainability has been considered as one of the major element in the maintenance process.

Conclusion

It has been concluded by the above essay that sustainability plays a very important role when it is concerned with tourism industry because long-term operations in the sector are enhanced by this only. A proper plan to conserve the priceless legacy has to be initiated by people as well as the government of a country.
