Environmental sustainability can be defined as “the rates of renewable resource harvest, pollution creation, and non-renewable resource depletion that can be continued indefinitely” (Schaltegger, Burritt and Petersen 2017). It is to be noted that if they cannot continue or last indefinitely then they are not sustainable. In other words, it can also be defined as the process which involves the effective maintenance of the factors or practices that adds to the “quality of environment on a long-term basis” (Schaltegger, Burritt and Petersen 2017).

The primary importance of “sustainable work practices” lies in the fact that the various “sustainable work practices” aim to minimize the impact as well as the damage caused to the environment by the work activities or practices which are conducted by the companies or business organizations. These practices also intend to reduce the wastage of the natural resources and thereby save the resources of the planet (Walker 2012).

The operations of the energy sector organizations have tremendously affect the balance of the earth (Wagner 2013). In addition to this they have considerably depleted the natural resources of the planet. The level of land, air, water, sound and other kinds of pollution caused by them is also very significant (Walker 2012). Therefore, it becomes necessary for the various energy sector organizations to consider the environmental management as an integral part of their operation.

In the recent times, the focus on environment has greatly increased and all the major companies of the world are expected to have their own Environmental Management System (EMS) which will manage the amount of damage done by their company or business organization to the environment (Wagner 2013). This system is often utilized to create a positive brand image by the companies as an effective environmental policy is often considered to be a sign of a good brand or company.

“The Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999” (EPBC Act), often called by the name of Australian Government Environmental Legislation, makes it a criminal offense for anyone to take an action which will cause a significant damage to the environment until the person or the individual have the approval of the environment minister of Australia (Wagner 2013). This legislation helps to control the amount of pollution caused by the individuals as well as the industries.

The primary responsibility which the environmental legislation imposes on the individuals as well as corporations is to take responsibility for the environment and also not to take any action which might significantly impact the environment or cause pollution to it. Another responsibility which the legislation places on the companies and business organizations is the ethical use of the natural resources.

There are several environmental and resource saving issues associated with a typical electro-technology workshop. The primary one is the use of the raw materials for the manufacture of the finished products or services in which the electro-technology workshop might specialize. It is to be noted that most of the raw materials used in the various electro-technology workshops are made from resources which are available in very scarce proportion on the planet. Therefore, depletion of natural resources is one of the many issues faced by the various electro-technology workshops. Another significant issue faced by them is the significant amount of pollution caused by them and the climatic damage which entails with that.

Role of Environmental Management System (EMS)

There are various renewable sources which are used for the production of energy (Twidell and Weir 2015). For example, the velocity of the running water is utilized for the production of energy. The velocity of the water is converted into mechanical energy and then it is converted into other forms of energy (Twidell and Weir 2015). Another example of a renewable source of energy is the wind energy (Twidell and Weir 2015). Here again the velocity of wind is utilized for the generation of energy. Solar energy is yet another example of a renewable energy (Twidell and Weir 2015).

It is noted that the OHS policies are the ones which everyone needs to follow when they are inside the premises of a business organization or company (Ohspolicy.com.au. 2018). These OHS policies or Occupational Health and Safety policies are dictated by the legislation and every company needs to follow them (Comcare.gov.au. 2018). Therefore, if all the policies related to the OHS are followed ardently then it will considerably reduce the number of workplace accidents and the disease (Comcare.gov.au. 2018). Thus, the company will be able to get more productivity without spending extra resources on the various accident costs.

I think “process consultation” will be the best kind of consultation for our workplace as this particular type of consultation is especially suitable for small groups. The focus of this type of consultation is on the behavior as well as the dynamics of the entire group and also the development of effective strategies through consultation which will lead to the overall growth as well as development of the entire group itself (petersmithconsulting.com. 2018).

The most important thing which must be accomplished for receiving materials for a job requirement is the supply system. It is to be noted that an effective supply chain is very important for all companies or business organizations without which the company will neither be able to procure raw materials for the manufacture of the goods or products sold by them nor will it be able to deliver the goods as well as products manufactured by them to their targeted customer base (Christopher 2016). Therefore, the supply chains form one of the most important parts of any business organization.

It is often seen that the various electronic devices are provided with diverse kinds of integrated circuits or semiconducting memory devices depending on the function for which the devise have been designed. These integrated circuits as well as semiconducting memory devices are often made of silicon and in cheaper electronic objects silicon is replaced by copper.

It is to be noted that location forms one of the most important aspects of activities and often the requirements of the activities depend on the type of location on which the activity is being conducted. For example, if an activity is being conducted on a protected area like sanctuary or wildlife-park then the activity list would also include the safety measures along with the normal activities which they were supposed to undertake. The primary purpose of the procedures is to guide the behavior of the people on the business area. Therefore, it is necessary to have written procedures so that everyone can read about them and also get to know about. The primary aim of this is to avoid misrepresentation and also to make the rules very clear which the people are supposed to follow on the company premises.

The primary reason to complete documentation is to have a clear written record of the decisions as well as the resolutions which have been reached and to which everyone can have so that they can get to know about them in a much better manner. The process of documentation also helps in keeping the data as well as the records in a much more effective manner.

The Completion within the established procedures can be notified by putting up placards or notifications on the walls where the employees as well as employers can read the procedures directly. The process of making a formal announcement can also be utilized for the purpose.

It is always better to take established procedures from established personnels since they have manifold benefits. The primary benefit of this is that these procedures are already being followed by other places and have been beneficial for them so the percentage of risk is considerably reduced (Ohspolicy.com.au. 2018). Another advantage of this is that the company does not need to spend considerable amount of resource on the development of these procedures (Ohspolicy.com.au. 2018). They also give a fair idea to the companies about the various safety and health measures which they need to take care of.

Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is a set of guidelines or step by step instructions which are developed in order to help the organizations to guide the workers or employees through complex routines (Policy et al. 2014). It is often seen that they are help in the establishment of systematic way of doing the work and thereby in performing the complex tasks in hand in a much better as well as easier manner (Policy et al. 2014).

The “Work, Health and Safety Regulations” (2011) which focuses on the health of the workers and the adequate safety regulations for the prevention of work related accidents is one of the policies of “Work Health and Safety” (WHS) policy which I would like to implement at our organization (Ohspolicy.com.au. 2018)
