The Influence of Geography on Organisms

The world is full of geographical differences. Each place has a different kind of people and other organisms. The geography influences the person by the nature of mood determinism which is mentioned in detail in the latter part of the paper. Geography and economy are interrelated, both influence each other. I am an ordinary citizen belonging to the state of Johor in Malaysia. I have been a sincere student of this educational institution throughout the semester. With the end of this semester, I would like to think about my views and present you in the form of this paper. The man is considered a social animal; human beings always get influenced by its surroundings throughout their life.

Geography plays a very important role in the nature of organisms of different species. I am also the normal human being whose views have changed during the course of this semester. Before the semester I have been not accustomed to diversity. My world was my family which is still so. But there has been an increase in the number of persons I want to have good relationships with. I love my country and equally, respect the culture of other states and nations. So I respect Chinese culture as well. I and my family made a prosperity food according to traditions which in the local language is known as ‘leu Sheng’. The process of cooking was not so pleasant for us but the results were more than expected. The dish really tasted very well and my whole family enjoyed it.

So what is the difference which is/are attributed to geography and which I count upon? There is not a single difference. Many differences I experienced in the course of this semester are discussed here.  I visited many places which had different geographical features. There were different landforms and climatic regions. Along with this, there were people belonging to different nationalities. The language, simplicity and kind attitude of the local population has affected me very much. I got the opportunity to meet geographical experts and got invaluable insight related to the culture of the region. The different ideologies and attire along with different attitude towards life impacted me. The cultural and spiritual values of the particular region have enlightened me. I have gained spiritual knowledge. The spiritual values of the persons have affected me; I am able to feel the harmony between divine power and the local population. The beliefs and customs of the area are really interesting and full of diversity.   

Becoming More Accepting of Diversity

Human geography influences the individual in its entirety. The people I met in the course of the semester have affected my thinking process. My view regarding diversity has been changed. I used to respect diversity earlier as well but after commingling with the students of different backgrounds, I have been grown up as a more wise man as far as diversity is concerned. There have been many instances when I shared many important moments with persons of different origin and background. This has given me some memorable experiences which I shall not forget in my entire life. The journey with the students of different races, ethnicity, culture, and religion has been full of memories. In addition to this, I got the opportunity to talk with local population belonging to different religion, ethnicity, space, and place. I found many persons of my age who have also come to this place for the purpose of the study. I explained to them about my family also and met some of the family members of my colleagues. Some of them became my good friends that helped me learn their culture; I also readily got assimilated with them. Each student or colleague influenced me through his or her culture. So my attitude towards diversity has been altered; now I have a wider view of the issue of diversity. This has made me a progressive individual. In addition to this, the kind nature of the local population has affected me.

Along with this, I have gained a positive attitude and leadership skills. I can manage the problems in a better way as I faced many small or big hurdles that I had to cross over without the support of anyone. This has brought a positive attitude in me; I can better deal with contingencies. I have taken these skills from the attributes of the local population. These leadership skills and positive attitude will be used in my personal as well as professional life. I have become a gentle person with certain ambitions.  But throughout the journey or course of the semester, I got support from my family so my world is still my family- my sisters, father, and mother. We have been living as a happy family with good deeds and positive attitude. The difficulties which I and my family faced during the semester have strengthened our bonding. I am more aware of the values of family and I can better build relationships. The profession of a person has a major bearing on the life of an individual but I have always kept personal life at the topmost position as only a good personal life can give long-term happiness to the individual. The professional life is definitely important to survive in the world and fulfill the basic needs; it is personal life which determines the future of an individual.

Gaining Positive Attitude and Leadership Skills

Another difference that I have experienced is my behavior and communication skills. I am more concerned about feelings of others so I have altered the manner I talk to other persons in. the climate of the location determines the mood. The pleasant climate has made me more concerned and communicative. My communication style will be able to build better interpersonal relationships which are very important for personal as well as professional life. Every profit or non-profit organization rests upon the many traits, out of which communication and resultant interpersonal relationships have a major influence on the very survivability of the organization. There have been many instances where I used sophisticated techniques in communication to persuade others. My communication skills will be used for the betterment of society and progress of my country. There have been numerous challenges which I dealt with good communication skills and I have been able to experience the challenge is gone.

Then, there is economic development and urbanization. I have been grown up in an urban area so I understand the attributes related to urban areas in the context of human geography. It is generally said that the urbanization is related to isolation. People remain busy in their own lives in urban areas and social interactions are less. In addition to this, the economic inequality creates a big divide between the persons of different economic classes. As I experienced, in this place of the world, people live with harmony without any animosity in relation to religion or caste. But this region is also not aloof from the harmful effects of urbanization on human geography. The economic prosperity has created a big divide between haves and have-nots. There have been persons of different origin belonging to different classes. These developments tend to create animosity between haves and have-nots. On the one hand, there are affluent people, on the other hand, families are not able to fulfill their basic needs. This economic gap creates an opportunity for the rivalry. There is a need to bridge this gap so that development yields good results and the tendency of crime is reduced in society.

Thus, the region has influenced me very much. I have taken some memories which I have captured in my camera. These moments will always be remembered and affect my personality. The journey of this semester has made me more enlightened and wise. I have gained not only educational knowledge but also some lifetime qualities which cannot be gathered by reading books. The live experience of the region has affected my personality and my views as a human being.  There have been many incidents which challenged my ideology as such but with each challenge, I found myself more wise, experienced and calm. The people of different background and geographical differences have improved my personality and made me positive in attitude. I have gained certain valuable attributes which cannot be experienced in any other part of the world. The place has widened my approach to look at different situations which have culminated into a better human being or personality. I hope this geographical history of my life will give my family, society, and country a better person. These skills will be used by me at various other points of time so there will be a candid approach to challenges and hurdles. In addition to this, there will be a positive attitude towards diversity.
