The Digital Revolution is not limited to the past – we should expect changes to continue for the foreseeable future. The aim of this assessment is for you to explore how IT might change a particular industry in the future, based on current trends and upcoming technologies. For this assignment, you need to create a short video. There are many different tools available to help do this; Windows Movie Maker is available in the labs. It is also acceptable to perform a single-take video using a smart device or webcam.Your topic must be automatically generated, based on your student ID. Please use the Topic Generator link in Moodle, and choose only one of the topics available.
Write a description of this process in English (about 200 words), referring to the above events, tasks, decisions, actors and outcomes. It is acceptable and expected that you make a number of assumptions about the process, but these should be explicitly included in your description. What are you basing your understanding on?Identify specific components of this process that would change due to your technological idea.Describe how these components would be affected by the change (200-300 words).
It should be clear which events, tasks, decision points, actors, and outcomes are affected, and in which ways. This may include components being removed, replaced, augmented or added.Include justification for why these components are affected by your specific technology.Use process model diagrams to support your description – one before and one after the change. These need to be detailed enough to show the change in processes, but not so detailed that the changes are hard to spot. The purpose of your model here is to show the impact of the technology on the business process; let that guide your level of detail
The Impact of Robotics on the Fast Food Industry
The industry of food is changing with the effect of robotics. The demand of food rises continuously with increase in the population by 7.5 billion. The industrial robot revolutionize across the globe and allow the increase in productivity. The fast food industry generates globally $570 billion along with the growth rate. Robots are capable to handle smart material and work side-by-side with the humans. In many restaurant food is being prepared by human robots. The technology allows human thoughts to manipulate computer and machinery (Shiomi et al, 2017).
They checks guest into the rooms, carry the luggage, turned to automation. Today robots makes lot of sense to industry where it is hard to find employees. Robots would take over works that are dirty, dull and dangerous and enable humans to focus on other tasks. The capabilities would be further enhance by Automation. Once robots get into the kitchen, the human employees will become free and can easily interact with the customers.
Customers when ordering a coffee or need to check into a hotel, they need to contact with other human being. The portfolio had pursued certain assessment that has identify the potential impact of Robotics in the Fast Food industry. Usually, 70 % of the human in the job need money and work for limited hours, however for a robot it takes 24 hours a day were it does not need any vacation. Thus, it is most cost efficient to use a robot in the food industry. The section below will demonstrate it.
2. Brainstorming
The Robotic technology for the Fast Food Industry could be change or disrupted in three different ways.
- Impact of Robotics Technology on the people in the Food Industry: Over the next thirty years the human race is affected by robotics as it is blurring the boundaries between robotics, biology, artificial intelligence and smart materials (Chen, Lin & Tseng, 2018). For robot there is no need to be humanoid or have limbs to walk or talk. Robot can monitor and repair natural environment to track nano robots and kill cancer and lead to planetary colonization to the companions of robot that would be helpful for the old age people.
Any particular task could be perform, manipulates through the power supply, contains sensors and control systems and the knowledge and time offered by the people. The people has the capability of doing multitasking but not as fast as a Robot does. At the same time, the robot could work side by side with human.
- Impact of the Robotics Technologies on Labor Market: With the evolution of the technology the labor market will respond. Technology has played a wide role in the economic growth with the number of jobs. The data had explore to across 28 different industries of 17 countries were 71 economic recoveries occurred. As the number crunched, there is no real difference for joblessness recovery where the industries are prone to automation (Li et al., 2018). As opposed by the AI, the industries have introduce industrial robots over the timeframe. The employment level is indeed low were each robot is equating to six human employees.
- Combined impact of other technology with the chosen technology: In this case, apart from Robotics, Automation is chosen were necessary changes could be made (DeCanio, 2016). It will enable the process of development of food for the industry of fast food through which the user receive the order. This process help save time and effort that the human make and have resources and high food quality.
Regulation and Ethics
The impact of Robotics on the Fast Food Industry follows the Lawrence Lessig’s regulations for the Market, Law, Architecture and Ethical.
- Markets: In the food and beverage industry, the robotics market will experience around 29 % annual growth rate from 2015 till 2019 (Bissell & Del Casino, 2017). The drivers cited by the research firm that has demand for clean and contamination-free production areas. The market forecasts that by 2022 the robotics market worth $2.5 billion.
- Law: The impact of Robot in the workplace has reach to an incredible fast changing phase. The legal profession will transform rapidly with the beginning of the 21st Century (Sharp, 2018).
- Norms: The technology has progress in the social robots that were designed to work alongside and interact on the social level with the human (Fleming, 2018). Service Robot is more specific than the social robots. The social robots have challenging and exciting frontier.
- Architecture: Robotic Fabricate the architecture, art and design that inclined to robotic arms and has an automated mechanisms that are programmable (Ali et al., 2017). The process of robotic is more proficient as it reduce the construction time and cost.
Before the use of Robot:
Events: Customer visiting to the restaurant, selecting a dining table, ordering for food
Activities or Tasks: Serve customer, Customer makes payment after having food
Decision points: selection of food item, Provide feedback, Review the feedback of the customer
Actors (people and/or objects): Customer, Chef
Outcomes: Wait for food to serve, Serving food to customer.
After the use of Robot:
Events: Customer visiting to the restaurant, selecting a dining table, ordering for food
Activities or Tasks: Serve customer, Customer makes payment after having food
Decision points: selection of food item, Provide feedback, Review the feedback of the customer
Actors (people and/or objects): Customer, Robot
Outcomes: Wait for food to serve, Serving food to customer, fast service.
Conclusion
From the activities and the event, it has concluded that the impact of Robot in the fast food industry have properly being simplified and this has brought a major changes in the fast food industry. Multiple task will be performed when the food industry started to use Robot and provide fast and best service to the customer which will improve the information management for the industry. Thus, it is justified to conclude that the impact of Robot in the fast food industry has prominent advantages and also provide a competitive advantages.
