Your Task
The Service Delivery Manager of your company has asked you to design the network infrastructure for AITT company, specify all the details about network devices and technologies to be used and implement the simulation using GNS3.
Assessment Criteria and Instructions
As part of your Assessment Criteria, you should prepare a formally written report supporting all your design choices implemented in GNS3, Presentation explaining your solution, and a prototype of the network implemented in GNS3.
The Case Study makes up 70% of your final mark. It is mandatory for your group to submit all the items weekly and end of the semester to successfully complete the unit.
Use the table structures in the Appendix A when you are preparing the report for the project which are also being used for documentation of the project by Your company.
- Document the VLSM Design.
- Document Router and Switch Details for each site. Separate table should be created for each router and switch.
- Document the IP address plan.
- Record ACL testing and connectivity results.
- Record the processes of configuring and testing network automation
The company requires the implementation of following security policies to control the flow of IP traffic within its network and to the Internet.
For clarity, all the requirements requested by the company is listed in point form bellow.
- Access Rules for Group Access VLANs
- All VLANs are permitted to access internet unless specifically denied below. ?
- VLAN to VLAN access, is denied unless specifically permitted below. ?
- PC hosts in the Admissions VLAN are permitted access to the Marketing VLAN.?
- PC hosts in the Finance VLAN are permitted access to the Admissions, and Marketing VLANs. ?
- PC hosts in the Marketing VLAN are only permitted access to the Internet.
- PC hosts in IT Support VLANs are permitted access to all VLANs. ?
Assessment Criteria and Instructions
This project aims to design a network solution for Advanced IT training company that network solution must be satisfied the requirement of Advanced IT training company. This company is founded in 1998 which is used to provide the consultation and training services for information technology students. It has many branches and headquartered in Los Angeles, USA and subsidiaries in various countries Australia, India and Canada. The Advanced IT training company needs to provides the high quality and advanced training for Australia people and company head office is placed in Sydney. It has various branches which are presented in Adelaide, Brisbane and Melbourne. This company needs to implement the network to support the potential growth over the next five years. So, this company decided to hear the user that is network solution provider. The network solution provider is used to create the layout the network with an expectation of 30% growth of current IP requirements. The Sydney head office has two major building like building A and Building B which are 5 km apart from each other. So, this company requested to set up the leased line to connecting the two building with security measurements. The Sydney head office has the Admissions, finance, marketing and IT support department. The Melbourne Branch distance across a single area which is 50 m x 30 m and it has the Admissions, finance, marketing and IT support department. The Brisbane branch distances across an area of 25 m x25m and it has the Admissions, finance, marketing and IT support department. The Adelaide Branch distances across an area 45 m X 30 m with single storied building and it has the Admissions, finance and IT support department. This company requested at least one separate printer for each department in each branch and also needs separate server reserved. The head offices needs the access to all the devices over the network to both configure and monitor as necessary using a secure network connection. It also needs the implementation of security policies to control the IP traffic flow within the network to the internet. So, user needs to design the network infrastructure for AITT Company and specify the details about the network technologies and devices to be used and implement the network simulation using the GNS3. The network infrastructure will be done. The specification of network devices and technologies are will be done.
Functional and Non-Functional Requirements for AITT Company
The Functional requirement for AIIT Company are listed below.
- Admissions Department - 90 employees
- Finance Department - 40 employees
- Marketing Department - 25 employees
- IT support Department - 10 employees
- Trainers - 20 employees
- Others - 5 employees on each side.
The Non - Functional requirement for AIIT Company are listed below ("CCNA Labs Telnet Access Configuration on GNS3. - Computingforgeeks", 2018).
- File Server
- Web Server
- Printers
- Group Access VLANs
Topology diagram for AIIT Company is illustrated as below (Welsh, 2013).

Basic configurations
For computer 1
It has generic,
Ethernet is lo,
Local port is 30000,
Remote host is 127.0.0.1,
Remote port is 20000,
Network TAP interface is 10.0.0.14.
It is shown below (Neumann, 2015).
To configure the Ethernet switch by right click the hubs and choose configure. After, set the number of ports and click apply and OK button to configure the hubs. These are shown below (Molenaar, 2018).
To configure the Ethernet hubs by right click the hubs and choose configure. After, set the number of ports and click apply and OK button to configure the hubs. These are shown below ("How to configure CIR on frame-relay switch on GNS3? - Bayt.com Specialties", 2018).
Trunking
VLAN trunk configuration is shown below.
DHCP configuration is shown below ("Gns3 DHCP Config - 83456 - The Cisco Learning Network", 2018).
NATNAT configuration is shown below.
The lease line is a cross over Ethernet cable interconnecting two routers together. On routers, no special configuration is necessary in addition a completely ordinary Ethernet configuration and basic routing.
Here, we are configure the RIP and EIGRP routing protocol ("Frame Relay with Routing Protocols Using Cisco Routers in GNS3", 2018).
It is shown below.
In Router,
(config)#interface serial1/0.23
(config-subif)#no ip split-horizon
(config-subif)#exit
(config)#interface serial1/0.4
(config-subif)#no ip split-horizon
(config-subif)#exit
Now, Enable dynamic routing using RiP,
In Router,
(config)#router rip
(config-router)#network 10.0.0.0
(config-router)#network 20.0.0.0
(config-router)#network 90.0.0.0
(config-router)#exit
SSH configuration is shown below ("cisco-router-ssh-configuration", 2018).
Port security is shown below ("configure-port-security-on-cisco-switch-in-gns3", 2018).
Access list configuration is shown below (Dwi Prayoga Putra, 2010), ("GNS3 Labs for CCNA: Advanced Access Control Lists - Intense School", 2018).
Conclusions
This project successfully designed the network solution for Advanced IT training company that network solution is satisfied the requirement of Advanced IT training company. This company is used to provide the consultation and training services for information technology students. Also, successfully implemented the network to support the potential growth over the next five years. So, this company decided to hear the user that is network solution provider. After, the network solution provider was successfully created the layout the network with an expectation of 30% growth of current IP requirements. And, head office needs the access to all the devices over the network to both configure and monitor as necessary using a secure network connection. Also, implemented the security policies to control the IP traffic flow within the network to the internet. The proposed network design infrastructure for AITT Company is used to specify the details about the network technologies and devices to be used and implement the network simulation using the GNS3.
