Discuss about the Mobile News Adoption among Young Adults: Examining the Roles of Perceptions, News Consumption, and Media Usage.
Data Collection
Data Collection process has been most important part of the research study. Data and information of the research topic helps in analyzing the problems discussed in research topic (Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault 2015). As per the pew Research center, most of the young age individual aging from 18-29 years are frequent to the use of the mobile phones and internet. Therefore, the researchers have focused on these age group people as population of the study. However, data has been collected from both primary and secondary method of collection. The primary data collection method has focused on conducting online survey. The use of the primary data collection requires a clean answers from the respondents through the use of the google forms. The use of several data collection methods might help in collecting more data from the respondents. A total of 384 participants have been selected for the self-administrated online survey among the 755 students contacted. Therefore the response has been 51% (Mackey and Gass 2015). The survey questionnaires have been prepared with the help of google forms and link was sent through email to the students.
Respondents have been provided with new mobile phones after collecting data and information related to the research topic. Researchers have explained that the timing and intensity have been the two most important point for the adoption. The researchers have used multiple measures for addressing bite the frequency and intensity of the new mobile adoption (Flick 2015). Respondents have been asked about the utilization of the new adoption of mobiles within scale of 7. However, all the respondents have been asked for pay for mobile news services using a 7-point scale.
A total of 384 respondents have been participated in the online survey out of which, 376 responses have been analyzed with the help of random sampling method. Therefore, 84 % responses have been related to the mobile news and additional 17% have indicated to other intention for the use of the mobile news in near future. The participants also rated the Internet (M = 4.54, SD = 1.91) as the medium they used most often, followed by mobile phone (M = 4.18, SD = 1.68), television (M =3.72, SD =1.03), radio (M = 3.06, SD = 1.21), print newspaper (M = 2.77, SD =1.59), and magazine (M = 2.73, SD= 1.72). A correlation analysis on the four dependent variables to assess their construct validity showed all variables are significantly related (Silverman 2016). For instance, timing of the adoption is positively related to mobile news usage frequency (r [316] = .33, p < .001), time spent using mobile news per occasion (r[313] = .35, p < .001), and willingness to pay (r[316] = .21, p < .001).
Sample size and population of the survey
The use of data collection method has helped in collecting the data and information or the research. The use of the primary data collection method have helped in collecting data from large number of participants in a minimum time. The use of the primary data collection requires a clean answers from the respondents through the use of the google forms. The use of several data collection methods might help in collecting more data from the respondents (Vaioleti 2016). Therefore, data can also be collected from the secondary data collection method including the online journals, report and governmental databases. These type of data collection method help in researching various data and information from various scholar and the researches done in this research topic. The use of mobile and internet by various ages of people in the universities can be assisted in the process. The previous research done on the use of the new mobile phone by the teenager and other age of the people might help in getting a clear picture of the conclusion. The research problem discussed in the research can be properly mitigated with the help of secondary research method (Ledford and Gast 2018). Data and information might be collected from the recent journals of recent years that might help in observing a clear picture of the use of mobile phones among teenagers. The media usage from the usage of new mobile phones have been analyzed in the research. The respondents of survey have been asked to provide their experiences with the adoption of new mobile phones in the market (Brinkmann 2014).
The use of different accessories for developing new items in the market have been maintained in the universities. However, the Pew research center have enabled the analysis of the data collected using the 7 point scale system. The demographics of the respondents have played an important role in maintaining the responses (Humphries 2017). The respondents have been answering the survey questionnaires under the 7 point scale and were asked to inform about the awareness of the survey by television, newspaper and other sources of data ad information including internet and social media. The use if the data collection method have been maintaining the analysis of the data and information collected from various sources. As discussed earlier, the researcher might have used the secondary method of data collection as it helps inn providing a peer interest in the previous researches done on the same topic (Panneerselvam 2014). The use of the previous data might help in providing clear picture related to the research topic. The adoption of new mobile by the youngster as well as adults have been mentioned in the literature review of the research. The new topics elaborated in the literature review including media news, sports, heath and science have been discussed.
Analysis of data and information
There are three types of the research design including explanatory, exploratory and descriptive design. The exploratory research design focuses on the problems of the research that might not be discussed proper in the research (Bauer 2014). The exclamatory research design helps in connecting with the cause of the two variables in the research topic. The adoption of the new mobiles by the young people have been properly discussed in the research study that cannot be done by using the explanatory research design (Choy 2014). Therefore, the researcher have used to the descriptive research design in the research study. The use of the descriptive research design have helped in maintaining the decryption of the research topic of the problem in the research. The use of the descriptive research design have been developing the model of the research study for the researchers (Simonsohn, Nelson and Simmons 2017).
The descriptive research design have been focusing in the population of the survey and the sample size. The sample size of the research study have been an important part for analyzing the research topic in a descriptive way. The data collection process used by the researcher has been the primary data collection method. The data collected from the primary data collection method have helped in maintaining focus of research process in the research objectives and aim (Lushey and Munro 2015). The criteria of the adoption of new mobile phones even for the data usage in the mobile phones can be justified with the help of the descriptive research design. This decision for taking the descriptive design for the research has been properly justified and helped the researcher to maintain the use of different process in order to maintain the order of research pattern. The descriptive research design have helped in describing the objectives of the research in a descriptive way.
Data and information have been analyzed by the help of regression analysis technique. Hypotheses have been created in the research that have been analyzed in the data analysis section. The first hypothesis have been focusing in the relative advantage of mobile news positively in order to adoption of the mobile news have been supported (Dumay and Cai 2015). The second hypothesis have refer to benefits of the mobile news in adoption of the mobile news. Simple regression shows that perceived usefulness significantly predicts mobile usage (β = .26, t[371] = 5.10, p < .001), and willingness to pay for mobile news service (β = .12, t[371] = 2.27, p < .05). Therefore, the results of the regression analysis done on these hypothesis have been developing a negative indication. The model was statistically significant (F[1, 151] = 4.76, p < .05), and explained 2% of the variance. Economic/ business news preference was significant (β = .18, p < .05) in predicting the adoption variable The data analysis have helped in matching up the data and information collected from the data sources.
It can be concluded that the adoption of new mobile media has been successfully provided a relative advantage to new technology. However, the advantage of adoption of new mobile have been created a positive attention to the researchers in studying the topic. The conclusion and outcomes drawn from the study have helped in mitigating the research problem initiated at first. The research study focuses on the objectives and hypothesis of the research that have been initiated earlier. The study has focused on limited population in order to conducted online survey. However, the researchers might have used the secondary data collection method. Thematic analysis might have been done in the research by creating themes based upon the research questions. There has been a legitimate conclusion drawn from the study.
