?Describe the theory of learning you believe best fits the person’s behaviour in this case? (You may need to make some assumptions as to how they might have learned this behaviour)
?Describe the theory of emotion that best applies and justify your selection.
?Is there a personality disorder or some other mental disorder that could account for this behaviour? If so, describe along with your reasoning. If not, outline how stress may have played a role by relating it to a theory of stress.
?How could others have influenced this person’s behaviour. Describe a social psychological phenomenon that best describes this.

Construction of the Statue of Unity

The event is about the fact that statue if unity that has been built in India on an independent activist Sardar vallabhbhai patel in Gujarat. It was found as the world tallest statue of approximately 182 metres. The project was started in 2010 and the construction started in 2014 with the total budget of 2,989 crore.  This was the event taken by Indian Prime Minister naraendra modi on 143rd anniversary of patel bhai.

The name statue of unity was written due to the contribution of farmers while building the statue. They contributed the iron that was needed to build the statue by their instruments. In this report we would find the physiological fact of building the statue of unity. Some people take in it a negative manner and have raised an issue. The concern raised was that money spent to build statue of vala bhai patel was 3000 crore and the care of statue for one day is near around one million rupees. This amount could have been used to improve the lifestyle of people. It was found that farmers are committing suicide as they do not have money to pay back their loans and people are living below poverty line. Thus, instead of resolving these issues government took a step to build statue of unity.

The event has changes the human behaviour over the country. Some consider this event a symbol or pride and take it in a positive manner while the other makes take it in a negative way. Some of the perception theory that could define this situation is Gregory theory that argued that perception is a constructive proves and relies on the top down processing. According to this theory, a person makes the perception or decision according to their prior knowledge (Blaney & Shah, 2018). It helps in actively constructing the perception based on the reality environment or stored information.

Some people thought that the main purpose of building this is politics and it was built to satisfy the false pride. It was useless building the statue of unity and sending crore by ignoring the crises faced by an individual. If seeing from a different perception it was found that Sardar Patel was a believer that farmers should progress in India and from the research it was found that thousands of farmers commit suicide due to scarcity and unprofitable market. In this various theories like theory of learning, theory of emotion, stress related theory and social psychological theory are discussed (Blaney & Shah, 2018).  It helped in finding out the perception of people about different events. In this report, the event that took place in India recently is dicussed.

Controversy around the Statue of Unity

The learning theory is the framework that describes the behaviour of an individual about the particular event. It was suggested by Plato by its learning theory that a person reacts with the knowledge they have gained and their behaviour changes accordingly. People predicated from their knowledge that wasting billion of dollars could have been used for some other purpose (Larsentoubro, 2016). People from their knowledge came to a conclusion that we should stop idol worships and start with the ideal worship. It was found that farmers are dying and committing suicide every day and what is the motive of building a statue of 3000 crore.

From the learning theories, the people responded that 3000 crore could be used for building many new IIT campus, IIM and research organisation (Pemayun & Maheswari, 2017). The overall construction cost could have been used to irrigate hectares of land, renovate or regenerate many irrigation schemes. The type of learning theory says that the behaviour of a person becomes the way they reflect (Larsentoubro, 2016).

By understanding the concept of Gesalt theory it was found that they emphasizes on the human experience by understanding the sensation. As many individuals thought it as a statue that wasted a huge amount of money while others understood its importance (Pemayun & Maheswari, 2017). Thus, it can be said that people tend to see things from a holistic point of view. On the other side, some people treated statue of unity as a tribute to sardar vallabhbhai patel on his 143rd birth anniversary.

The main issue was faced by local tribal that belong to the tribe as land was acquitted for the development of statue (Ranganathan, 2016). The money spent over building the statue was criticised and the expenditure was asked to make on other priorities such as women safety, education or many other agriculture scheme.

Thus, it can be concluded that the theory of learning by Plato’s state that there is a different way for every situation (Gould, 2017). Some might react in a positive manner while others found it as a negative aspect. The theory of learning states that how an individual react completely depend on their perception about a particular event.

The theory of emotion that best applies is Schechter Singer Theory or James Lange theory; it focuses on the role of physiological arousal as a primary factor. In this the emotion arises from the facts and figures. Some people found this as an environmental threat and a wrong decision in terms of the villagers living in the nearby area. The people faced many shortcomings as they became homeless and associated different set of feeling (Gould, 2017).

Different perceptions about the Statue of Unity

It was seen as a waste of public money which could be used for humanity purpose for feeding hunger and treating the patients who don’t have money for treatment (Gould, 2017). The emotional theory leads to physiological reaction. The emotional behaviour is complexly dependent on how a person interprets the physical reactions. For example, when the statue of unity was build some felt as a pride for the nation (Neer, 2017). It was a tribute to one of the national leader while others might think it as complete waste of money, as it could have been used for the welfare or betterment of people. According to this theory of emotion, it is also about the person experience about a particular event (Patel, 2018).

Thus, it can be concluded from Schechter Singer theory that emotion of a person is based on two factors one is physiological arousal and other is cognitive label. He stated that emotion of a person is felt when there is a change in some environmental condition that can affect the physiological arousal (Businesstoday, 2016). The emotion completely rely upon the external stimulation for cues about the fact that how to label the emotion. According to this theory of emotion, it is said that it is about the personal experience about a particular event (Salam, 2018).

In my opinion, there is no such personality disorder or mental disorder for undertaking this event. Stress may have played a role by relating it to a theory of stress. It is found that stress generally involves emotional as well as physiological response from a particular situation (Mordi, 2016). It is said that stress involves the interaction between the people facing the problem and their resources from dealing it.

One of the theory of stress that was related to biological factor was walter Bradford cannon, it is said that when a person is exposed to emotionally arousing condition they have an impact on nervous system. For example, when it was announced that 3000 crore were invested in building the statue. It has an emotionally impact on many people as they thought their basis needs are not fulfilled and a lot of public money is wasted.

It can be seen as a global landmark as it is breath taking statue of unity that is set on against the wildlife sanctuary. It is built in the name of man who worked hard to unite the India. It is the largest statue in the world which can be the proud moment for the country. The emotional impact was seen on the local tribal of the region (Indiatoday, 2016). It was found that almost75, 000 tribal were adversely affected by this decision. This acted as destruction for them as they suffer from emotional stress and decided that no food will be cooked in 72 villages (Indiatoday, 2016). They felt their rights are violated by the government and they had nothing to do against it. This was an emotional stress for the people living in that region. On the other hand, some people thought it was a reason of pride and patriotic movement for the country. It took almost five years of construction to build the monument called the Statue of Unity. It is set to stand at 182 metres tall that is almost twice the height of the Statue of Liberty and nearly 100 feet higher than the current record holder that is China’s Spring Temple Buddha (Indiatoday, 2016).

Perception Theories and the Statue of Unity

From the above discussion, it can be said that the tribal of the nearby villagers face the common issue. They found that the land and money that were used for building the statue could have been used for their betterment. The stress was many people became homeless and suffered from poverty (Hayes, 2017). Thus, it is believed that the issues related to the citizen should be given a priority over any other event. Personality psychology studies enduring psychological patterns of behaviour and emotion, commonly called an individual's personality. Mainly focusing on the development of the human mind through the life span, developing psychology seeks to appreciate how people come to perceive, understand, and act within the world and how these processes change as they age (Hayes, 2017).

It has also influenced the behaviour of many people in terms of social psychological phenomenon. At the time of ceremony there is no sign of protest of wasting 30 billion rupees which was unveiling. The villagers of the nearby area raised their voice saying, that this public money could have been used for other betterments. Many believed that this is done with the mind set of politics (Johnson, 2018). The people of the country are wondering if this is really a decision or step taken in terms of politics.

The physiological impact was that some praised prime minister for treating the leader Patel in a great manner. While other found it as a waste of money. Leaving the negative side, this should be considered as a pride moment for the country as it showcases the talent of the country and also showcases the engineering and technical capabilities of the country. It can be one of the tourist spot for the country. A viewing gallery is also been created at a height of 135 metres inside the statue to enable tourists to have a view of the dam and all the mountain ranges (Statueofunity, 2016).

The person’s behaviour differs as many individual treated it as a movement of pride for the country. Some of the individual found that it was just done for the sake of politics benefit. Thus, it the views differ from one person to other according to the perception of an individual. The physiological impact was that some praised prime minister for treating the leader Patel in a great manner (Hall, 2017). While other found, it is an unwanted of money. Ignoring the negative side, this should be restrained as a pride moment for the country as it showcases the talent of the country and also platforms the engineering and technical abilities of the country (Brettell, 2018).

Physiological Impact of the Statue of Unity

Thus, the event has been discussed from all the different perspective and theories. The statue of unity is a tribute or a salute to Indian statesman facing the sarovar Dam. The statue depicts the unification of many states that form a common boundary. It is a symbol of honour and tribute to the great leaders of India. On the other hand, environmental activists also wrote a letter to the central government asking that the project implementation has started without clearance from the Environment Ministry (Upadhyaya, 2018). The villages opposed the construction of the statue and demanded the restitution of the land rights over 375 hectares that could have been used for them for betterment.   The villagers in the nearby area also opposed the formation of Kevadia Area Development Authority for the construction of Garudeshwar weir-cum-causeway project (Upadhyaya, 2018).

Conclusion

It can be concluded that psychology is the scientific study of a person’s behaviour and mind. It is multi faced discipline that covers many fields like human development, sport, and health, clinical and social behaviour of a person.  Psychology can be said as a new science that influences a person’s behaviour. In this report, the statute of unity that is built in India by the prime minister is discussed. This issue has affected the tribal people of that area the causes and consequences of behaviour has influenced contemporary psychology.
