The changing face of Victoria is a free exhibition that tells about the stories of the people, events and places that have shaped Victoria. The exhibition discovers those people and places which have shaped Victoria. In the last exhibition, over 60 new items were placed on the display from the collection (Haake, Rantatalo and Lindberg, 2017). The core values of an event are very much necessary in guiding the design of the event. These values represent the practices that symbolizes the beliefs, ideas and standards that are been used in designing the events (Dunn, 2017).
They are significant and are carried out by the event managers to ensure that proper credibility and quality is been maintained. Such core values are:
- Integrity: This means all the work must be done in ethical and honest manner. It must be there, as a result of which transparency and honesty with the stakeholders prevails. The customer satisfaction and goodwill of the business is most important thing which is to be kept in mind while preparing for the event design.
- Teamwork: The opinion of each and every team member should be considered and the objectives of the team should be given more priority than the individual performance (Crilly, 2018) . The exhibition of changing face of victoria is a result of teamwork that such useful and creative things to its customers.
- Accountability: it is one of the important core values that should be present while guiding for the design of event. It means that one should be responsible for its actions that are taken in achieving certain objectives. The people who designs exhibition are held responsible for the matter being displayed on it.
- Creativity: It is another value which allows people to think out of the box. This is the one factor which is very much important to be there in preparation of an event design. The value deals with thinking in a different way and providing a unique experience to the customers (Calinao and Lin, 2017). Changing face of Victoria Exhibition displays unique and new stories of different people and places to the visitors which keep them attracted towards it.
Apart from the above values, there are some principles stated by James and Brown related to the event design. According to Brown (2011), the experience of event design maximizes the communication with audience and as result of which, it increases the capability of an event to meet its stated objectives. It also helps in providing the basis for delivering peak experiences to the audience. As per (Morgeson,Mitchell and Liu, 2015), the five principles of event design are shape, scale, timing, focus and build. Principle of scale deals with the fact that event should be design in such a manner that audience can clearly see and understand what is been presented. Shape states about the physical environment in which the event is going to be happen. Principle of Focus tells that attention of the audience must be gained and kept for the success of event. (Gruber, et. al, 2015) said that timing is about understanding the attention of the customer and maximising the event for their attention. All these principles must be followed while designing the exhibition of changing face of Victoria.
Design of an event depends on the layout selected for an event, use of colour and other physical attributes like access and ticketing facility depends on capturing audience to the event. In case of changing face of Victoria the layout of an event is kept in a vintage style as it depicts the story of old people (Hill, et. al, 2016). Design is actually the reason that enables one event experience to be different to another. Event design covers the creation; development as well as selecting a design for an event as it maximizes the positive impact for audience (Christensen, 2015) . While planning for changing face of Victoria many attributes are considered like catering design, content design, entertainment, environmental , product as well as theme design. The design is kept same to the purpose and theme of an event so that it reflects about the purpose of an event. In case of changing face of Victoria the colour combination is kept soothing as it mainly focuses on story telling (Gibbs, 2017). So sounds aping is done accordingly and various visual cues are used. The event is maintained by edible display and innovative ideas combined with practical elements that give a lively feeling to the audience. In any event of victoria different colour textures are used which make the event interesting (Whatson, 2018). It had made many co-partners that help Victorian Design Challenge to grow at larger level. There are various physical attributes that are considered while designing an event that includes traffic management plan, fees and charges, reinstatement cost, availability of transport facilities, safety and security plan in case of emergency are designed (Royle, 2015). The range of fees and charges fee these activities and event are kept low.
