Discuss about the Law Proposed against Uploading Violent Images.

Ethical dilemma generally helps in defining a complex situation that mainly involves an apparent mental conflict between various types of moral imperatives which will be helpful in creating transgressing impact on another (Cook et al., 2014).

In this assignment, the paper mainly generally reflects on an ethical scenario “Law proposed against uploading violent images on the internet” for analyzing the case form the perspective of various ethical laws which include deontology, virtue, utilitarianism as well as contract.

The paper generally focuses on a case that generally elaborates a law that was proposed by the government for uploading various types of violent images on the internet. The South Australian government demonstrates that posting different types of degrading as well as violent pictures on the internet will be considered as a significant offence (Law proposed against uploading violent images on the internet, 2017).   It is identified by Attroney General that a law has been proposed for this specific type of act which is considered as the first law of its kind in the Australian history. As per the law if an individual post humiliating or degrading images, videos of another individual without their consent then it is identified as a serious offence. It was stated by Rau, that this type of law was only proposed for tackling various types of thugs against the individuals who generally filmed assaults and after then update them on the social media publicly.

The law was proposed after a viral video of a student was uploaded in the internet. The video reflects that a student in the playground of the school violently throws another student on the ground. The government wants to mitigate the issue that mainly arises due to uploading degrading or humiliating images as well as videos on the internet. This type of behavior is quite disturbing as most of the times, violent or humiliating videos as well as photos are uploaded by some other individual without the consent on the person who is involved in the pictures or videos. It mainly creates a huge impact in the life of the victim and therefore the people who are associated with the creation of this type of videos must be subjected to severe penalties including jail sentence (Broad, 2014).  The government provides a proper clarification by stating that if a person is found associated with any of the act that is related with uploading violent images or videos, then that specific person will be penalized severely.  As per Mr. Rau, the government will allow capturing of both images as well as videos for legitimate purpose but if a person is found to be engaged in publishing as well as filming images then the person will be charged.

Utilitarianism

Utilitarianism is considered as one of the ethical theory that mainly assists in elaborating a specified action that is found to be very much helpful in enhancing the utility (Beard & Hamid, 2014). According to this theory, the Australian government mainly states the significance of the law that was proposed for obstructing the act that are associated with humiliating images as well as videos. The law that was proposed by the legislation is found to be quite effective in avoiding different types of challenges that mainly occurs due to violent videos as well as images on the internet (Law proposed against uploading violent images on the internet, 2017).   The law that was proposed by the Australian government not only assists in mitigating the challenges that mainly rise due to this type of activities by also helps in tackling different types of thugs against the individuals who mainly filmed as well as publish various types of humiliating videos as well as images on the internet (Murdock et al., 2016). As per the proposed legislation if the government found any individual guilty of publishing or posting violent as well as humiliating pictures on the internet without taking the consent of the people who is involved in the images the person will be charged. Thus, it is found that the move that is taken by the government is very much effective in resolving the challenges that mainly occurs due to inappropriate posts on the internet.

According to the theory of deontology, the action which is taken by the government of Australia is found to be very much ethical as it assists in mitigating the challenges that are related with uploading violent images as well as videos on the internet. It is identified that this specific move was taken by the Australian government after a viral video was posted on the YouTube. The video reflects that a student violently throws another student on the playground (Murray & Nash, 2016). The video may create a bad impact on the student. For mitigating these type of challenges, the law that was proposed by the Australian government is found to be very much ethical.

The theory of virtue assists in underlining the significant feature of a person as one of the key component in the entire procedure of ethical thinking rather depending on different types of rules and regulations (Shafer-Landau, 2014). As per the theory, the government mainly proposed a law which elaborates that if a person is found engaged in uploading various types of humiliating or violent videos as well as images on the internet, without providing information to the person who is involved with the videos or images, then the person will be penalized severely (Law proposed against uploading violent images on the internet, 2017).  As per Mr. Rau, the law was generally proposed for tackling thugs against the individuals who mainly published as well as filmed various types of assaults and after then post those pictures on the internet publicly. He also states that capturing images as well as videos for various type of legitimate purpose will be approved by the government. This type of action that is taken by the government is found to be very much effective in resolving issues that are associated with violent images as well as videos on the internet.

Deontology

The theory of contract generally elaborates that various questions will be raised by the society if a law is proposed by the government (Broad, 2014). According to this ethical theory, the individuals who are involved in uploading degrading images or videos on the internet will be penalized as per the legislation that is proposed by the government of Australia (Law proposed against uploading violent images on the internet, 2017).  This creates numerous questions in front of the society which mainly deals with that if a person unknowingly uploads humiliating videos of another person then what will be the consequences. However, Mr. Rau suggests that capturing images as well as videos for legitimate purpose will be approved by the government.

The steps that help in mitigating the issues are as follows:

Appropriate rules and regulation: Proper rules as well as regulation must be proposed by the government for handling these types of challenges.

Uploading degrading or humiliating pictures or videos must be avoided: Humiliating videos as well as pictures must not be uploaded on the internet.

Taking appropriate consent before uploading images of another individual: The humiliating videos or pictures must be uploaded by taking appropriate consent of the people who is involved in the images or videos.

Conclusion

It was concluded from this assignment that the law which is proposed by the government of Australia against uploading violent videos as well as images is quite effective in resolving various types of challenges that occurs due to this type of activities. The law which was proposed also assists in tackling various types of thugs against the individuals who generally filmed assaults and after then update them on the internet. The paper helps in reflecting different types of recommendations which are also helpful in resolving the issues
