In this section of reflective writing, I will be discussing the most depressing and negative incident of my life, which took place a few months ago. The following incident was potentially competent to transform my life to a great extent. Last year, I went to the Mumbai head office of Aditya Birla Group as I applied for an internship program in their organization. In order to examine my potential and adaptability, I was called up for an interview round. Clearing that interview session could lend me a lifetime opportunity of being a part of one of the marketing leading company. I was highly excited and confident for this because hypothetically I made up my mind of getting selected for the internship program. In this sense of folly and idiocy, I was least bothered about preparing for the interview session.

On the decided day and time, I reached the office for the interview of once in a lifetime opportunity. On reaching there, I started feeling nervous and anxious because hundreds of people were invited there for the interview session of the internship program. Seeing this scenario, made me feel low in my knees as I realized that I have to compete effectively to declare my selection. With this sense of mixed feeling in mind, I headed towards the interview room. On entering the room, I started shivering due to anxiety and nervousness. Even I was not even able to greet the delegates and introduce myself. The things drastically changed in my mind and I felt collapsed in front of the interviewer. After 10 minutes, I realized that my interview was over and it went terribly wrong. I was highly depressed with this incident because I missed one of the greatest opportunities of my life.

Afterward, I decided that I need to make some necessary changes in order to avoid such oversights in the upcoming future. I analyzed my personality and explored the loopholes such as over-confidence, nervousness, and carelessness. Incorporation of firm determination, effective decision-making process, and various personality development activities helped me in transforming myself into a better person. I dealt with over-confidence by making serious commitments and by being honest with myself. Furthermore, I also dealt with nervousness by doing breathing exercises, self-massage and by using visualization techniques. In order to deal with the attributes of carelessness, I started following a strict routine sleeping and eating. Also, I started filtering out the unimportant information from my daily routine and allowed myself with more quality relaxation time. Overall, it can be inferred that the following incident affected my life to a great extent but considerations of self-realization and personality analysis assisted me in transforming my personality to better characteristic traits.

Self-Realization and Personality Analysis

Considering the overall scenario, I regard it as a complicated situation of an ethical dilemma because being a colleague; I would never want to miss good friends of mine. Also, the practices, in which they are involved is not ethically adaptable as per my moral values. Even more, practicality also prompts me to take firm measures for this dilemma as I am also a student of the same class. If any individual submits an assignment, which is written by a professional expert, the surely that assignment is going to get better grades. This will further impact my grades and result of the final submissions. Also, it will be an injustice to other students as well as the teacher because the presented assignment is not a researched work, it's a paid outsourcing.

Therefore, in such a critical circumstance, I will try to handle the situation with certain expertise. Initially, I will try to explore the sources from where my friends are trying to outsource the assignment. This will potentially facilitate the conviction of the news in front of my teachers and other colleagues. Then I will try to discuss the issue with my friends, who are planning to hire ghostwriters. I will try to make them understand all possible efforts. Moreover, I will also try to convince them by telling how unfair this could be to the other students, who are working hard to score good grades in this assignment, a sense of competency needs to be healthy (ACS, 2014). I expect a constructive response from their side as I will make every possible exertion to validate my point.

However, in case, if they disagreed with my viewpoints, then I will directly head forward to the concerned subject authorities and tell them the complete scenario in detail. I know that consequences of this could be detrimental to my friends but my moral values will not permit me to be a mock spectator of this swindle act. Considerations of honesty, competence, and professionalism never abide by such things (ACS, 2018). I would request the concerned authorities not to take any strict actions against my friends as it could spoil their whole life. Instead, the authorities could warn and punish the students for their deceitful activity. Any strict actions against those students could be a grave scratch on their lives as they would be taking such actions under misguidance and folly. Overall, I guarantee that, in case of such scenarios, I will always remain by the side of my moral values and inner conscience. I will do all feasible things to facilitate the evenhanded execution of the following assignment.

Ethical Dilemma and Academic Integrity

After a descriptive consideration of the following unit, I achieved various Unit Learning Outcomes (ULO). This potentially assisted me in making a comprehensive understanding of the various personality development as well as interpersonal skills. Initially, the foremost influence of this unit improvised my interpersonal skills along with active listening and reading practices. I started contributing to my class discussions on a certain topic and I even read and listen more in order to make factual and credited discussions over the proposed topic. Secondly, I started believing in the collective effort of a team. Now, I realized that an individual person limits itself due to time constraints. However, a collective team can make every impossible task possible. Therefore, I started indulging myself in the classroom activities along with my team and other class members.

This ULO further prompted me to emphasize over my verbal as well as non-verbal communication skills. Therefore, I started practicing with different tools and software to facilitate the certain conditions. Moreover, I also started delivering oral presentations, which will further lead to the overall and sustainable development of my communication skills. In addition to this, considerations of this ULO additionally incited to learn and adopt common work practices and values operating in the Australian workplace by aligning them with the ethics, codes of behavior, and societal, privacy and legal issues within the ICT industry. In order to validate this, I started studying about the regulatory terms of working in ICT industry of Australia. Even more, I also started visiting a legal consultant, who could be for this in a better manner.

Along with this, I started learning more innovative and latest things about the ICT industry because I wish to pursue a career in the same. I am readily studying, understanding and researching the implications of ICT in the process of organizational development. I am exploring the previous researchers based on the following topic and trying to explore the loopholes and drawbacks from the following researchers. Overall, such contemplations are potentially assisting me in appraising the application of emerging technologies to communication and collaboration. In addition to this, this assignment also facilitated the relationship between a student and a lecturer. Earlier, I found this assignment quite difficult to perform and even scored less marks in my first attempt. Then, my lecturer called me up to discuss the issues and also guided me to effectively execute the following task. This practice potentially boosted my morale and also helped in justifying the relationship between a lecturer and a student.

As per my understanding, the most significant ULO from COIT20249 is understanding the implications of ICT in the overall and sustainable development of the organization. I personally felt certain on learning about the evolving technologies and its integration to communication and collaboration as I wish to pursue my career as an ICT professional. I will further help in understanding the core relations of my profession. Another imperative ULO, which could help me as an ICT professional is creating and delivering effective oral presentations. As a professional ICT employee, I will be interacting and be meeting new people; therefore, it is obligatory to have influential presentation skills.

Making an allowance for the overall unit, I personally feel that the orientation of this unit is effectively formulated to facilitate the relations of understanding and learning. The momentous part of this assignment is its relativity with the overall personality development of the individual. The learning outcomes critically considered all the aspects such as communication skills, presentation skills, learning abilities and technological developments as an ICT professional. Individually, I don’t feel any necessary change or up gradation in the following unit as the outline and orientation of this unit is competent enough to facilitate the learning and development of an ICT professional.
