Understand and explain the nature of naturally occurring data and how this can be objectively analysed to inform your practice and influence your behaviour

List 3 types of naturally occurring data that can help you self-evaluate

Self-evaluation through Naturally Occurring data

Management perspectives exposes the foundation of the management of the organization. The report discusses different and numerous management perspectives of an Australian Bank and shows different function of the management in the organizational body. The role of the manager includes several different challanges that the manager has to face while performing his role. The major challanges include the constant changing environment of marketing as well as the socio economic influence on the efficiency of the organization. In this didcussion, social factor chiefly reveals the different culture of the organization in every aspect. Moreover, the behavior and the role of the managers of the organization in maintaining and preserving the cultural heritage of the same determines the value and ethics of the company (Oliver, 2014).  Infact, this can be considered as one of the major and prime concern while discussing the perspective of management as ethics and values of tye company play an important role in maintaining then organization’s reputation in the global perspective. The report is a reflective peice of writing depicting the personal analysis of the feedback of the managers regarding their role and activity for maintaining the reputation of the organization through preserving the ethics and values of the same.

As a manager of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, I have come across various issues that are prevalent in the organization and influencing both the management system and the managers individually, and reputation of the organization positively as well as negatively. For answering the question, I would like to describe few naturally occurring data to self evaluate my role in CBA and the scope for improvement in the same.

Email is considered as one of the form of communication in the professional areas. In the organization, emails are used for influencing the behaviour of the employees working in the same. The conversation with the employees via email can project a great impact on the behaviour of individual and on the organizational values. For example, the way of my communication to my workmates through emails, presents the behavioural culture of me. There is formal and informal way of communication through the emails. The relationship with the individuals determines the way of communication via emails (Cornelissen & Cornelissen, 2017). As the manager of CBA, I strongly feel that my role in the organizations to certain extent depends on the communication with the employees and email being the major way of communicating with them can be the factor of my self-assessment. The email conversation with my workmates can help me to understand the room for improvement in my professional relationship.

Feedback is another naturally occurring data that can help me for my self-assessment (www.uc.edu., 2017). I found it from the feedback that the employees react in rational way to the feedback but do not seem to execute the same rather I realized that they are uncertain about their capabilities for their particular job role. I also observed this trait in the employees that they usually acknowledge negative feedback about themselves, but in reality, they are reluctant to change themselves according the feedback ("The Power of Feedback Loops | RiskArticles.com", 2017).  From the employee-feedback, it is evident and clear that here is a huge gap between the managers and the employees of the organization. I realize that I need to implement management theories to handle such situations where the employees show reluctance to change their behaviour. I believe that contingency theory of management can be effective for such situations.

Emails

During the team meetings that usually hold in the workplace regarding various issues of the organization work progress and strategies, I found out that I am competent enough in interacting with the workmates, whereas I lack my thinking and judging ability in some situations. In addition, I also need to work on my observant nature for proper assessment of the situations. As the manager of CBA I face several challenges during the meetings and I must overcome the same to ensure the proper security provisions for the company. As one of the major person of the governing body and the dictator of the meeting, it becomes my responsibility to provide proper support to the young talents of the organization. In this case, I personally feel that the trait theory and the behavioural theory can be applied for improving my personality (Porath, & Pearson, 2012). Both the theories depict the basic approaches of a leader. Similarly, being the manager of CBA these theories can be effective for me.

In this section of the report, I am presenting a SWOT analysis of my professional role in the bank to understand my competence and the room for any improvement in my professional skill (Hollensen, 2015).

Controlling financial trend of the bank is one of my strength, that not only has made me confident in performing my job role but also has been profitable to the bank.

  • Motivational towards the employees:

I believe that I possess the quality to motivate my employee for performing their job role. This is certainly my strength, which enhance my professional skill.

  • Competent:

I strongly believe that I have sufficient competency for my particular job role, and this is consolidating the financial growth of the bank.

  • Participative management style

Following participative management style makes me easily approachable among all the employees, employers and other staffs. This has enhanced my reputation within the Bank.

  • Lack of technological knowledge:

I realize that I lack my technological knowledge as compared to the other employees of the bank. This is certainly my weakness, which is adding negative values to my professional skill.

  • Poor communication:

I have excessively port communication skill, which is not only harmful for my profession but also making me not understands the problems among the employees and the customers.

  • Controlling the employees:

While any conflicts arise within the bank among the employees, I realize that I am incapable of solving the issues and controlling the employees due to my introvert nature.

  • Failure in revealing leadership skills and abilities

Sometimes I fail to expose the appropriate leadership skills and abilities. This failure puts my employment at stake. Moreover, this is a matter of serious concern for the organization in terms of enhancing the productivity for achieving a secured position within the competitive ambience of the market.

  • Building contact with other professional outside my organization:

I feel that I need to build more contact outside my workplace to enhance the professional communicative skill. Tis will also help me to develop and expand the business.

  • Introducing new technologies within the bank:

Introducing new technologies to the ban will speed up the workflow in the organization and improve my technological skill while using the same for the purpose of my job.

  • Transparency in communication:

Employee Feedback

There is an opportunity to add transparency to my communication with the employees and the customers of the organization, which can lead me to develop my professional efficiency.

  • Inquisitive nature

Eagerness and willingness to learn acts as a great opportunity for me in terms of introducing beneficial schemes and offers for the bank.

  • Implementing the new technologies:

I need to implement the new technologies in bank in most effective and least time-consuming way. While using the technologies for the work takes longer time, it can slower the speed of the work among the employees. This can be a threat to me as the manager of the bank.

  • Not improving my communication:

If I fail in improving my communication shill, it can cause harm to me as well as to the bank. My lack of communication can create conflict among the employees and can make the problems unsolved. This can make me answerable to my higher authority, which may cause to lose my job.

  • Improvements in personality

Failure in terms of seeking ways for upgrading my personality would pose as a threat for me in terms of my position within the Bank. On the contrary, revealing spontaneous attitude towards upgrading my current personality.

Structure and the characteristics of an organization in many ways can influence and limit the managers from decision-making. The certain organizational structure is often responsible for constraining the managers of an organization in making certain decision (Koch & MacDonald, 2014). The Commonwealth Bank of Australia is depended on the economical condition of the society, which is however set by the political factors of the same. The political factors indirectly influence the organizational structure of the Bank. The management team of the organizations are found to be the trendsetter for the organization. Changing the trend through the organizational structure of the company can affects the management perspective of the organization (Oatley et al., 2013).

As the manager of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, my responsibilities includes ensuring the security provisions of the employees, handling the managerial issues as well as the employee issues,  motivating the employees, controlling the financial trends and maintaining the ethics and the values of the organization (Lodhia, 2015). I have found myself competent enough to play the role of the manager in one of the nationalized Australian Bank.

The social trends also change the core strategies of the organizational behaviour, which can directly influence on the working environment of the organization (Connolly, 2012). The managers of the organization set the working environment of the organization. Mangers are found to be incapable of making changes for the betterment of the organization and the working culture when external factors affect the organizational structure and the behaviour (Doherty, Haugh & Lyon, 2014). This certain situation sometimes constrains the managers of the organization from making certain decisions for the employees and for the overall improvement of the firm.

While identifying range of organizational stakeholders, I found out that there are two types of stakeholders such as internal and external. It is the responsibility of the managers to motivate and lead them for the proffered outcome of the decisions. I personally believe that managers can arrange meetings, seminars for engaging with the stakeholders and motivate them for investing for the profitable outcome in near future (Minoja, 2012). This engagement will also enhance the relationship between the stakeholders and the organization, which can lead the organization to desired outcome from them.

Team Meeting

Managers and the stakeholders can come from diverse cultural background, which can cause initial problems of communications and decision making among them. I believe that there are certain strategies and technique that can be helpful and effective in removing these obstacles. I feel that that the managers need to show respect towards the culture of the opposite person while communicating with them regarding the investment for the firm. The managers also needs to be aware and mindful while choosing the words of his language for communicating with the stakeholders. The culturally different stakeholders may not have good knowledge of other languages; hence, the managers should chose simple and local words while communicating with them. I personally believe this will be effective, if not, I will suggest the managers to use interpreters for the communication. I believe that these techniques can be helpful for communicating to a culturally diverse range of shareholders (Berkenkotter & Huckin, 2016).

Along with this, I think Myers Briggs personality test has helped me a lot in gaining awareness regarding my strengths, weakness, opportunity and threats. Through the consideration of this theory, I realized that my perceptions need to be consistent towards the accomplishment of the goals. Herein, the parameter of weakness is nullified (de Haan et al., 2016). Emerging successful in achieving this consistency also makes the parameter of threats almost negligible. However, if I fickle in terms of my decisions, the intensity of the “threats” grips me, obstructing my scope and arena to perform the basic activities. As a matter of specification, the indicators had helped me in becoming acquainted with my true self. For example, practising participative management style is one of my greatest strengths. Here, the preference scale of judging is most appropriate. However, sometimes, I fail to expose my leadership qualities upon my team members. This is one of my greatest weaknesses, which can be related to the intuition perception. My learning and grasping power acts as an opportunity for upgrading my personality. Herein, the preference scale of perceiving gets higher priority.

Undertaking the means of evaluation and control would help me to adopt strategic vision towards my performance. Evaluation would help me to critically review the judgments proposed by me for the benefit of the Bank. Maintenance of consistency makes me familiar with the errors of judgments committed by me. Spontaneity in this direction along with willingness is itself an agent towards improvement in my personality. Control in my expressions and behaviours enhance my social status. This control and regulation would make my position central to the business of the bank.

As per the personal SWOT analysis of my professional skill, it is evident that there are room for improvement and development in me (Coombs, 2014).  While working in the bank as a manager, I realized that my technological knowledge is comparatively poor than other employees in the organization, which not only is obligation and the limitation in my professional skill but also creates a sense of embarrassment among my fellow colleagues. I strongly feel that I need to improve my technological skill in order to enhance my efficiency. For developing my technological knowledge I feel, that, I need to join course on technological advancement and research the present trend of technologies over the internet. Another improvement that I necessarily follow is to be more communicative with the employees and the customers. I need to remove my inhibition for communicating with the new people, as because my profession requires constant communication with people. The communication will help me to understand and identify the problems and the misunderstanding among the employees of the firm and will make the customers share their problems with me unhesitatingly. I realized that I am unable to control all the employees and handle all their problems due to my poor communicative nature. I believe that I need to take additional class on communication and learn some courses on the same. In addition, I need to remove my inhibition for talking to new people and start interacting with new people such as my employees and the customers of the bank. This process, I believe will help me to align myself with my department as well as my organization.

Personal SWOT

I think evaluation is very important in terms of upgrading my personality for the betterment of the Bank. This can be done by critical reflection on the performance, which I am currently exposing. This review would bring to the forefront the errors and mistakes, which I have made in terms of taking the Bank to the peak of success. Exposing proper capability regarding modification of these errors would make me a round character in terms of my self-development. Herein, strong will power, dedication and commitment hold prime importance for working towards the accomplishment of the identified and the specified goals.

Conclusion

This can be concluded from the above discourse that the management of an organization gave certain specific role to play for the betterment of the organization and the employee relation. The management perspective depends on the various issues like societal, political, cultural and personal. The impact of the external factors like political and the social aspects outside the organization can influence the management perspective of the organization. The internal factors such as communication with the stakeholders emerging from the culturally diverse background and the personal incapability affecting the professional skills and the environment of the organization can be mentioned. A SWOT analysis of my personal and professional skill is presented in the discussion, which can be considered to understand the need for improvement in the same. Herein, Myers Briggs Personality Tests attains an important position in terms of upgrading the personality. The methods and the strategies recommended in the report reveal that the ways for enhancing the management perspective of the organization, Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Therefore, it is evident from the above report that the management system of any organization is the fundamental and the central unit that operates the organization. However, some improvement and are needed in the system to enhance the ability both the managers individually and the entire system.  Self improvement attains the main focus of the assignment, shedding light on the concept of personal development through professional development.
