Computing Solutions For Party Placemakers Limited (PPL) Essay.

Option 1: Outsourcing

Your manager has done some reading and is unsure if he should outsource the project, train the current IT support person who looks after their systems to build the system or try and buy an off the shelf solution.

Your manager has asked you to write a memo of each of these three options and recommending an option for PPL.  

Your target audience is executive business people, who have extensive business experience but limited computing knowledge.

Your essay should be no less than one thousand (1000). Appropriate referencing is required. The textbook Satzinger et. al is a valid resource, however it is expected that at least five (5) other resources will also be used.

Review the Party Placemakers Limited Limited case study and answer the following questions with reference to the information in the case study.

Do NOT extend the scope for any of the following solutions beyond that specifically described in the case study above.

You are permitted to make reasonable assumptions where necessary but these should be noted.

It is recommended that you review all documentation for this case study before finalising any single solution. Ensure that the required consistency has been included within and between each question solution.

Review the PPL Limited case study and prepare an event table for the information system to support the business processes as described. Use at least the following headings for the Event Table:

Review the PPL Limited case study to prepare a domain model class diagram for the supporting information system.

Solutions must follow the methodology as outlined within the Satzinger et al textbook.  Solutions are expected to show:

• The class name and attributes list for each class and sub class as required
• All required associations
• All attributes as specifically mentioned in the case study must be reflected
• Other attributes as needed to support the described functionality.

It is not necessary to show methods, however you may include them if you wish. Solutions are expected to align with the components as shown in figure 4-21.

Prepare a Design class diagram for the Customer and Event Manager classes ONLY. These two classes should be part of the Domain model class diagram solution for the previous question.

Each of these design class diagrams are expected to have a complete attributes list and a comprehensive methods list which supports the specified functionality as described in the case study.  

Solutions must follow the methodology as outlined within the Satzinger et al textbook. Solutions are expected to align with the components for the ‘Design class diagram for Student’ as shown on the right hand of figure 10-8.

As per the requirement stated a short Memo is presented discussing three available options regarding computing solutions providence about outsourcing, training staffs, and building new system. The target audience in this Memorandum is the experienced executive personnel. The primary aim of the Memo is to provide computing knowledge based solutions. The solution should be chosen from considering three different options available for implementation. Based on case study of Party Placemakers Limited, the business is for assisting people with providing proper organizing expertise, planning procedures, and coordinating for special events. PPL can provide designing, invitation printing, registration handling services, organizing, and scheduling event details. The PPL can provide certain event-specific requirements such as setting venues, decoration, catering, flower decoration, setting vehicles, and photography. Moreover, the PPL can take responsibility for planning activities about event management for including event details and proper management of events in detail.

The options are mentioned in this business case as outsourcing new stakeholders in the organization so that the new system can be initiated operating. Based on choosing new stakeholder for operating in new system option; there are certain advantages and disadvantages in this particular option. The advantages are new stakeholders can operate the system without being dependent on the older system operational procedures. The older stakeholders are often dependent over the operational process such as suiting with legacy system activities. Moreover, the new stakeholders can increase efficiency of the system work, as they should be able to resolve the working issues in the new system. Some disadvantages exist over outsourcing new stakeholders in operation. The disadvantages can be identified as training the new stakeholders for system working and proper automation.

Again, another option exists for new system and procedure incorporation as training the staffs. The training activity for staffs is required for stating them major responsibilities that they should follow in new system. Moreover, the staffs should be prepared for new system and procedures that should be followed in the changes made for the PPL. This option can create several problems such as providing staffs more time for training that can require making adjustment of allocated timeline for system implementation.

Finally, the option is identified as building new system for providing changes in existing system as new PPL system is deployed. Furthermore, the new system building can increase profitability and operational excellence over the existing system development. The new system implementation could improve working process; moreover, the new system implementation in PPL could increase profitability for existing system.

The recommended option should be provided as outsourcing new stakeholders for improving new system operational improvement. The outsourcing process should incorporate new stakeholders for increasing efficiency and resolving employee-working issues. The disadvantage can exist for reducing employee turnover and related controversies with roles and responsibilities. The employees can be trained for improving their efficiency so that new system can deployed with successful work.
