The Arguments Against Privacy in the 21st Century

Discuss about the Privacy in 21st century.

Privacy in 21st century

It has been seen that in the recent scenario, privacy plays a great role. Privacy is related to the right which is given to the individuals that underpin the freedom of expression and also it focuses on making the society free and democratic (Parker,  2017). Privacy is also securing the private information of an individual. In this paper, the argument will be based on "Privacy in the 21st century". The first phase of the report is related with yes privacy is not there in the society and the second phase supports the arguments that privacy is there in 21st century. Last phase is the concluding part which is the summery of the paper.

Yes, it can be stated that in privacy in 21st century do not exist because the private information is leaked of the individuals due to this they feel insecure and also faces loss many times. For instance: It has been seen that people are facing issues due to the information leaked from Facebook or other social media sites. There are many people who have faced depression and are not able to live their life happily (Rachels, 2017).The information should be kept private but it has been seen that in the recent scenario, people face the issue related to privacy. The information is easily available on the social media sites and it creates issue for parents as well as for teenagers (Boyd, 2014).  People get to know each and everything in their early age with the help of internet or social media platform. Social media and also other technologies allow tracking, monitoring and also reporting not only the activities of the lives but also the biological functioning.

The important information of the individual is also tracked by the social media sites which have given negative impact on the individual. There are 90% of the individual who have faced issue of information leakage through social media. There are many individuals who open the same account on Facebook of the other person and post negative comments on the page. The information is taken from the Facebook account of the individual (Bright, Kleiser and Grau,  2015). Therefore, it can be seen that negative impact is seen on the image of individual and also it creates a feeling of frustration in an individual.

Next argument is related to the use of internet and social media sites by teenagers and young people who do not know how to protect their privacy. It has been seen that by using the internet and social media people post their pictures and also give the recent update. It can be evaluated that it has given negative impact on their lives. Now day's people are so much engaged on the social media sites that each and every activity is posted on the social sites which give knowledge to other people about their recent activity (Fuchs,  2017). They do not know to safeguard their privacy. There are many individuals who post the images and it can be seen by the large audience. So, in this case, many other people misuse the pictures or make a new account which hampers the privacy of the other individuals. There are 8% of teens who are saying that to manage the privacy is one of the difficult tasks to manage the privacy and only 1% is there who says that it is very difficult (Cao et al., 2014).

The Arguments For Privacy in the 21st Century

Another supportive argument is that there are many online websites who collect the information of the users and use it to influence their decision or gain an unfair advantage. The privacy really doesn't exist in the environment and it has been seen that when individual post various posts or pictures the information is collected by the website and according to that they take unfair advantage (Enck et al., 2014).  It is seen that they analyze the individuals and also recent example is related with Facebook in which the company has gathered the political views and according to the views strategy is made to showcase the advertisements so that mindset of the customers can be changed. The views and mindset of the customers have been changed by showcasing the advertisements in the large audience.

Therefore, it can be stated that there are various ways that hinder the privacy of the individuals or the society but it is important for the people to focus on managing their privacy so that they can live a happy life. Privacy is an important aspect on which focus is given by every individual.  Through social media sites, the activity of the individual can be monitored and due to this, there are many other incidents which took place. There are many hackers who are hacking the pages or the account of the individual. Due to this, all the information is taken by the third person and it is misused and affects the privacy of an individual. The accounts which are private are hacked by the hackers and the private information which should not be shared with anyone is disclosed.

In the recent scenario, parents are facing issue with their children. The children who are playing games through internet also get influenced and pay the amount requested by the sites without asking their parents. It has given negative impact and also through this the other part of the company can track the location or enhance their fraudulent activities in the market. They gain an undue advantage which affects the financial position of an individual. It has been seen that privacy is affected by the people if they are giving information on the social platform. So, it is important for the individuals to secure their privacy so that activities can be conducted in a right manner (Marwick and Boy, 2014).

However, it has also been seen that privacy exists in the 21st century. Without privacy it is not possible for the individuals to conduct the activities in an effective manner or individuals cannot survive if privacy is not there. There are also many ways that should be adopted by the individual so that privacy can be maintained.   There are many options available that can help to maintain privacy. Like password protection technique is offered that can help the society to maintain their privacy in a proper manner. Through password, it can be easy for the individuals to maintain their security on various websites. By putting passwords it can be easy for an individual to secure their bank accounts and also their social sites. It is important to put a difficult password so that easily accounts cannot be accessed.  It can also be stated that yes privacy exists in the 21st century.

Ways to maintain privacy in the digital age

For example, when individual open their bank account or focus on online banking then it has been seen that to be on the safer side they are provided with the password or given a chance to put a password so that privacy can be maintained easily and effectively. For security purpose, only the individual is assigned a unique password so that other individual cannot access it easily. It is important for the individual to focus on maintaining the privacy so that people can feel confident in accessing the sites (Westin and Ruebhausen,  2015). There are many people who think that privacy is not there in the society but through this technique which is offered to the people, it can be stated that privacy exists in the 21st century.

Also, there is one option given to the people to maintain their privacy. The option is related with OTP. It has been seen that in online banking the option is given to the customers to adopt for the option of OTP so privacy can be maintained and the only individual can easily access to their accounts. Through this online privacy can be maintained in the society. It helps to secure the account and also enhance the overall satisfaction of the customers. It can be seen that there are many people who are using an online transaction to pay at the time of purchasing the products online or mostly in the present scenario online banking is the best way on which focus is given by the society as it is the easiest way to pay (Tuten and Solomon, 2017).  So, through this, it can be said that yes privacy exists in the 21st century.

By focusing on the next argument it can be said that by changing the setting it can be easy for the individuals or the teens to secure the information or to keep the information safe. Privacy is setting is also the option which is given to the people or the individuals on the social media sites so that they can secure their accounts. Teenagers focus on privacy setting so that strangers cannot see or view their profiles and also it allows the trusted people to view the profile. There are many social media sites like Facebook in which privacy can be set easily. Like people who want to hide their details or the information can focus on setting their privacy and it can be easy for the parents to hide the information form their children (Tsay-Vogel, Shanahan, and Signorielli, 2018).

Also, it has been seen that individuals have the option to change their password by sitting anywhere.  If they are thinking that their information is leaked out then they have the choice to change their password so that the other person cannot access the other individual account. It helps to safeguard the individual privacy and they can live easily in a proper manner in the society (Murphy, 2017).

Also in the mobile phones security is provided to the people so that their information cannot be leaked. Also, anti-virus software which is introduced in the market so that information of the individual cannot be taken by the other people. With the help of anti-virus, people secure the information so that private information cannot be used by the other person (Eastin et al., 2016).

It has also been seen that there is various software which is introduced so that privacy can be maintained. Like Blur and Adblock is there which help the people to maintain their information.

There are also many companies who are focusing on considering the latest security software so that private information of the individuals cannot be leaked. It is important for the company to secure the information of the people so that growth can be achieved in the society. When the activities are conducted by the company it has been seen that they focus first on maintaining the privacy so that proper activities can be conducted. If the company is not providing security to their customers then it can be difficult for them to survive in the competitive environment. Privacy is not only the factor that helps to conduct the activities in a proper manner but also it is a factor that helps to achieve the overall profitability. It has been seen that if the information of the company is leaked then it can be difficult to achieve profits and growth (Reiman, 2017).  The advantage can be taken by the other competitors in the market when the information is leaked. In this case, the companies provide security to the customers and also secure their information so that negative impact cannot be analyzed in the society. The company offers many choices to its customers to secure their information like online banking on their applications and also online payment in a safe mode. This all the benefits which are offered by the company help to accomplish the overall goals and objectives of the company.

There are various options which are present in the recent scenario for the people so that they can keep their information safe. So, it can also be stated that there are techniques available in the society which can help to the individual in maintaining privacy in the 21st century.

Therefore, it can be seen that privacy has an essential role in the 21st century. If privacy is not there it is not possible to conduct or operate the activities in an effective manner. So, it can be seen that Yes privacy exist in the 21st century but also privacy is affected by an individual in many situations. It is important for the individual to maintain the privacy and security so that they can live a safe and happy life.
