The Emergence of Anarchism

Anarchism is considered to be a political concept of presenting a theoretical outlook over the perception of authority and power. It is often considered as a mora claim over the factors of liberty and freedom from dominance (Schubert, 2021). The post-WWII period has witnessed the emergence of several anarchist groups and federations from different countries. The most prominent countries leading the anarchical concepts are Spain and the Soviet Union. Within this subject, this essay aims to present a critical analysis of the power of anarchism in the present society. Over the years the world has seen a gradual rise of capitalism as the anarchical ideologies stumbled due to the increasing influence of governmental policies in trade and commerce (Molyneux, 2021). Following the context, the essay chooses to reflect on the impact of capitalist ideas on anarchism. The negative impact of capitalist views has significantly been pushing the progress of anarchism in the present society.

The post-war society has been a major influence in giving rise to ideas of anarchism from strong opposition to autocratic power and dominance. According to Prichard (2021), the American Civil Rights Movement can be recorded as one an inspiration for the emergence of the idea frameworks of anarchist ideas. The resistance of the people using the civil disobedience tactic is regarded as the budding view of the new radicalism concept. The European and Japanese society has considerably embraced the criticism of "elitist" power. The rejection of power Followed the doctrines of both communist and capitalist outlooks. The conceptualization of the anarchy idea is noted to have emerged from the studies of the beliefs of scholars and proclaimed socialists. As suggested by Morgan (2019), Pierre-Joseph Proudhon is identified as the founder of anarchism and defines the concept as an absence of a specific master. Anarchism has been deliberately responsible for employing evolutionary and revolutionary tactics to meet the ideal ends. The thoughts criticism, praxis, and expressions of anarchism have played different roles in meeting hierarchical needs. The values of liberalism share a significant relationship with that of anarchism including both libertarian Marxists and the New Left. The anarchist scholars have subsequently highlighted the socialist credentials to create dichotomies. The anarchists have been penetrating on to the essential aspects of strong commitments in dealing with the social constructs of hierarchy and regulation. Considering the arguments of prominent socialists like Mikhail Bakunin, liberty is an essential element in implementing the ideas of anarchism (Benkler, 2019). Anarchists also tend to contradict the views and opinions of their contemporaries which directs the evolution of new concepts. The appreciation towards the ideologies of anarchism can be developed through analyzing the contextual agreements of Noam Chomsky. The intellectual approaches of the anarchists can be pragmatic or anarchistic depending on the perception of authoritative governance.

Anarchism and Its Evolving Ideologies

Following up with the introductory context of anarchism and the opinions of the anarchists, it is necessary to reflect on the presented argument at the beginning of the essay. As mentioned in the introduction, capitalism has been consistently overpowering the logical approach of the anarchists. According to Fletcher et al. (2021), over the years, the focus of the nations in acquiring economic growth has significantly increased. This is identified to be an impending impact of the disparate reputation of social anarchism which indicates the incoherence of the anarchical ideologies. Contemplating on the prevailing arguments between socialists like Bakunin and Marx higher configurations of the rivalry of ideas and concepts have been identified in human nature. The state is known to be playing an important role in the development of the nations by strengthening the defense and economy. The opposition of anarchism regarding the modern outlook of the states has led to the weakening of the concept in modern societies. As argued by Ashwood (2018), the economic upliftment after the second world war is regarded as an essential influence in facilitating the recovery of the lost financial strength of the nations. Most of the areas all over the Northern and Western parts of Europe has been industrialized from the impact of the wars, simultaneously the Eastern and the Mediterranean region of the continent also caught up to the progress. The Soviet Union was also noticed to become a part of the sphere of the communist economy through the CEMA model. The emergence of the industries was considered as the primary sign of the changing outlook of the economies around the world. However, the prediction of the ideologies of capitalism has not been executed the way it had been planned. Capitalism has thoroughly developed as a breeder of unruly competition amongst the industries (Lloveras et al 2020). The various private and public sector organizations have subsequently become wealth centric throughout time.

The concentration of the organizations towards maintaining the availability revenue than prioritizing employment has significantly resulted in a higher rate of poverty. According to Sustam (2021), it has been noticed that the negative implication of capitalism has pushed around 10% of the world population towards poverty. The maximum population living in poverty has been considerably residing in countries like Nigeria, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The involvement of the corporations in capitalist activities promoting the "dirty industries" has considerably exploited the primary idea behind capitalism. Besides capitalism has also been noted to be perpetuating inequality within the societal interface. Moreover, Alexander (2020) argues that the participation of multinational corporations in the "race to the bottom" increased the prevailing gap in the unequal distribution of capital in society. Several countries have been suffering from the issue of functioning in low wages. Even though notable disparities in the world economy have been observed due to the exploitation of the values of capitalism, the implications of the concept are known to be advantageous for several impoverished nations. To repeat the positive impact of the capitalist approach, the concept has solemnly contributed to facilitating economic growth for the world. Supporting this argument, Holohan (2019), states that anarchism cannot be considered a viable movement for modern societies. Considering the history of anarchical societies, most of them has known to have gradually fallen. The radical ideas direct towards the differences in using violence to promote nonviolence is a major diplomatic notion of several anarchists. The lack of a singular set of principles is one of the important deteriorating factors of anarchism. The deviation in different perceptions fails to unify the people within a specific idea. The external pressure over the anarchist societies has been installed due to the dominance of capitalism on world economies (Morgan, 2019). Alongside, the perception of the people that anarchism is a culmination of violence and bears danger to the society is also where it fails to stand against capitalism.

The Impact of Capitalism on Anarchism

The arguments on the context of sharing of power between capitalism and anarchism further direct towards the prevalence of counter opinions. It has been observed from the arguments of Scott (2018), that even though several anarchist societies have failed in historical dominance, the potential of success cannot be entirely disregarded.  Following the doctrines of social history, it can be learned that over the period subsequent number of democracies have failed at any given point. The lost control of anarchism might be revived in the near future given the uncertainty of the evolving modern societies. With the implementation of the pseudo-anarchist views, there is a fair chance that the definition of the anarchical approach might change. Further stated by Yamada et al. (2021), the issue with the perception of anarchism was that it previously existed mostly within the communal rebellion which is the reason it often turned militaristic. However, considering the modern approach, the anarchist movements have been directed towards individualism and socio-political hierarchy. Since the goal is common in both approaches, the possibility of resurfacing can be taken into account. According to Molyneux (2021), the progressive movements have been directed towards introducing the accounts of social uprisings that have been changing the nature of leadership. The legislative and the movements carried by the organizations provide further support to the idea of anarchism revival. Thus, to match with the contextual arguments, although capitalism has been subsequently taking over the ideals and power of anarchist societies, the position of anarchism is prominent in the debate. The power of anarchism at present might be a bit bleak, but there are stronger possibilities that it might take a complete form like the past.

From the above analysis, it can be concluded that the power of anarchism has subsequently been challenged by the rapid growth of capitalism in modern times. The impact of anarchical views has been notable in the history of the evolution of socio-political philosophies. With the gradual disruptions in the social hierarchies due to the lack of a stable vision in the anarchical concepts, the perception of the people had significantly changed. This has been a major reason for the increasing dominance of the capitalist approach. Although capitalism has contributed towards the development of the world economy, simultaneously it has disturbed the societal balance. Thus, referring to all the discussed factors, it is considered that the uncertain mobility of modern societies, the revival of anarchism with reformed objectives might be possible
