Psychology is defined as the study and research of the human mind in relation to the behavioural functions of the human beings (Heider, 2013). The study of psychology is of prime importance in understanding the mindset of the people of the times as with the reading of the mindsets and human behaviour, it is possible to make out the ways and motives of his workings. Organizational psychology is defined as the psychology of the employees of a particular organization in relation to the different workings and mindset of the people of the organization (Riggio, & Porter, 2017). In making an organization work on a good level on a priority basis, there are certain organizational mindsets that need to be made sure about. The organizational psychology play an important part within the employees of the organization which make sure that the employees are getting sufficient attention from the employers. The knowledge of  the psychology of the people of the organization also make sure that the employers know their employees both internally and externally (Rothmann & Cooper, 2015). The internal and external features of the employees are one of the most important ways to know the mindset of the people that determines the working of the organization as a whole. The organizational psychology of the employees also help the theorist to determine the amount of motivation that the employees need in association to work and other factors determining it. The different set of psychology that determines the behaviour of the employees is one of the major determining factors that make sure that the organization is behaving in a proper manner. The set of psychology varies according to the situation and when in a crisis, it varies the most (Beehr, 2014). The aim of the report is to focus on the different set of issues that the employees are facing in the Housing Organization related to their psychological issues and work stress and to figure out the solutions following the problem. The following paragraphs focus on the different set of problems for the organization and also on the recommendations that the company has after figuring out the problems of the employees in relation to the psychology of the organization and the employees.

The Housing Organization is one of the major in its class that makes housing projects and builds houses that mainly focuses on the people that have lost their houses or are unable to build houses as per the needs of the people. The Housing Organization also makes sure that the people who face problems such as overcrowding and health and safety issues such as damp and other problems are also taken into consideration while building the houses for those people and providing them with the required amount of benefits (Unwin, 2013). The people of the organization employs people who are determined to provide services to the people who are in need and also to make sure that the people needing the houses are in suffice while they get the same. The Housing Organization also makes sure that the people involved in the process of allocating the houses and giving facilities to the people who need the houses are getting their due in time. The criteria of the housing organization is to make sure that no person gets deprived of the houses and also to consider the facilities that should be provided to the inmates so that the people related to it can get enough from them.

Challenges Faced by Employees in the Housing Organization

The organization has a number of problems in their population of employees. The organization employs more than 250 people in the workplace which makes it a small to medium sized company working in the premise of providing housing benefits to the people who need the houses triggered by the problems of health and sanitation issues. The organization should invest in the benefits of the employees and should also make sure that the employees are getting enough of them in return that the person is investing on the company.

Inspite of the certain benefits that the company used to give to the employees on an earlier basis, recently due to certain problems the company has stopped giving the benefits to the company that has led to a number of issues and other problems in the minds of the employees leading to their lack of motivation to work for the employees and also lack of interest for the people of the organization to be productive for the team as well as for the organization (Chan & Wan, 2012). The employees face a number of problems that they need to get hold of to get their basic problems solved by the organization policy.

One of the major problems that the employees face is the lack of holidays that the employees have. The housing organization is working on the acquisition of a new project which has implied the fact that the employees are expected to work more on the given time without taking any leaves and offs even on their days of holidays. This situation was not conveyed to the employees at first and so they had to face a number of problems while this new legal issue was passed (Shockley-Zalabak, 2014). The people of the organization had to leave their authorised holiday and also had to let go off their personal lives due to long hectic schedule. There is no fixed timings to leave the office making the people of the organization in need of the relief from the work stress and work load that the people are facing. The employees of the organization are always to be made sure that the employers are giving them the enough amount of freedom and respect to perform their duties for the organization and the performance of the task.

The problems of the organization is also to make the employees believe in the work policy of the organization and also assign the same. The organization assigns tasks to the employees and also makes them aware of the kind of results from each of the employees of the organization (Furnham, 2012). The primary task of the employees of the organization is to fetch better results to the workplace for which both the mental and physical health of the employees are of utmost importance. The people of the organization are delegated tasks without any discussion making them prone to the fact that their will and importance have no value to their counterparts. The people of the organization are to be made sure that their importance is at the most in the organization and they are given enough amount of workplace culture in the same.

Recommendations for Addressing Employee Challenges

Another problem that has occurred in the organization is the lack of motivation that the employees feel in the organization. Motivation is one of the most pivotal tasks that the authorities of the organization give their employees to help them perform better in their work (Ali, Mahdi & Malihe, 2012). Lack of organizational and work motivation restrict the organization to perform better with each of the employees and also give negative vibes to the employees. Due to intensive work pressure and tremendous work load assigned to each of the employees without even considering the amount of respite given to them, the employees of the particular organization are provided with no motivation that can help them sustain the work load that has been given to them by the employers (Rajhans, 2012). As a result of the tremendous work pressure, the people of the organization are made to work for extra hours without any type of recreational activities for the same. This made the workers prone to getting demotivated and frustrated at the organization and also give almost negligible efforts for the same to perform better at the place of work.


The problems that have affected the organization at the utmost level is the fact that organization is not giving enough recreational activities and causing a host of problems to the existing employees and making them disinterested in the work that they are working for. The employees are facing the problem of absenteeism which means that the employees are not being able to be regularly present at the organization and also perform their daily duties delegated to them (Cardus, 2013). This problem has given rise to a host of other problems such as frustration and depression among the employees, lack of maintenance of the work-life balance of the employees and lack of innovation among the employees for working and as well as creating sufficient production and giving efficient services to the whole of population. The employees of the organization make sure that the workplace is giving the enough benefits that they require in providing extensive services to the workplace. One of the most important lack behind of the organization is the lack of organizational culture that the place has. Organizational culture is one of the most important aspects of the work environment that helps the workers to give maximum efforts to the company and in turn yield maximum results for the same. The deployment of a large amount of task to each of the employees without even giving each of the employees enough scope for completion is one of the major drawbacks of the company that the employees are facing (Quratulain & Khan, 2015). Another problem that the employees of the company are facing is the lack of interest for the employees to perform and bring profit for the organization. The main task of the employees is to make sure that the housing acquisition is done on a priority basis and the housing is acquired to all the people who need it. The primary task of allocation of the required housing is to be done on a priority basis and to be made sure that each person gets the share as stated in the organization. The lack of the fulfilment of such a task impacts the reputation of the company in an adverse way. The overall problems of the organization is therefore major and requires immediate attention by the workplace. The lack of motivation and interest to perform a particular work with the psychological problems that the person is facing in terms of depression, frustration and anxiety can be termed in the sects of shying away from work and being absent from the places of work. These problems require immediate attention and needs to be addressed by the authorities with priority.

Conclusion

The Housing Organization is facing a number of problems in terms of employee handling and also the retention of the employees. One of the major problems of the organization is to retain the employees that are engaging themselves in the work. The employees are facing tremendous work load in the company as they are being delegated with tasks without their consent and also not being given enough time for their personal and recreational activities. The employees are deprived of their needful holidays and even weekly leaves due to the amount of work that the place is having (Yudhvir & Sunita, 2012). Moreover, the workplace needs more employees which it is lacking due to which the existing employees are facing tremendous work pressure.

As a result of the work pressure, the employees are not being able to perform as per the desired rate and as a result of which they are facing the immediate effects of the same. The problems caused by the employees of the organization is to be absent from their place of work due to immense work stress that the place is having. Stress is one of the major problems in the work place sector that needs to be get away with to get the maximum production of each of the employees. Stress within the employees make them prone to less work and the quality of work also gets down as a result of which they do not get the desired quantity of motivation to work for their team and organization as a whole (Mowday, Porter & Steers, 2013). The different types of work stress and the inhuman pressure that the Housing Organization is placing on the employees is making them prone to leaving the organization and also to making they disinterested in the amount of work.

The employees of the organization is also given more of the amount of work that they are supposed to be doing in the organization and so they are not interested in the work assigned to them. They are also told that their annual pay hike would not be there this year due to insufficient financial conditions of the company. All these factors have combined together in making the organization prone to losses due to the lack of work schedule of the employees. As a result of the number of problems that the lack of staff and their mistakes are occurring, there has been a striking rise in the customer complaint of the clients. The number of mistakes of the employees are on a steady rise as a result of which the work place is facing a huge amount of loss in the matters related to employment and the production of the company. The problems that the company is facing is due to the inconsistent working of the staff and also the lack of compliance between the staffs of the organization and the higher authorities who are assigned the work of giving them the required amount of work and also to make them work without any hike or compensation (Atlikhan, Albadvi & Ghapanchi, 2013). The increase in Staff absence have also taken a toll on the amount of profit that the company has making the work fearful for the employees who are present on a particular day.

Overall, it can be said that the amount of problems that the company is making the employees to face needs serious attention from the people otherwise the company may face tremendous losses in the near future.

The Chief Executive Officer of the company when appointed me as the Occupational Psychologist of the company, I was left to address a number of problems in terms of the company and the remedies that can be done to make the company profitable for the organizational heads. As an Occupational Psychologist, the primary task is to find out the problems and the cause behind the occurrence of the problems in respect of both the employee and authorities perspective and find the required amount of solutions for it. The main issues that had to be addressed are employee grievances of the employees regarding the workings of the company as well as the authorities that are handling the company, the issue of immense absenteeism that the company is facing, the increase in production of the employees, the reduction in the number of mistakes that the employees are making in terms of work, the regulation of customer complaints and the lookout that the work delegated to the employees are done in a timely and ethical manner.

Issue of Immense Absenteeism: The issue of immense absenteeism can be controlled by making a proper chart regarding the holidays and weekly offs that the company offers to the employees. The employees are also to be nurtured and given proper directions to make sure that their attitude towards the company and the work does not become casual and is to the point of extreme seriousness.

Increase in Production: One of the major works of the occupational psychologist is to make sure that the employees of the particular organization are mentally well to give maximum amount of production to the company. The increase in production can be done to make sure that the psychology of the employees are understood so that the authorities can take out the maximum amount of task from each of the employees.

Reduction in the number of mistakes of the employees: The reduction in the number of mistakes of the employees can be done by increasing their focus on the work that they are doing. Moreover, in order to increase the focus of the employees, the company needs to give them space and time to engage in the recreational activities of the organization. Another way to increase the productivity level of the employees is to make sure that they are concentrated to the job that they are doing and not looking out for jobs which is one of the major problems of the organization. The number of mistakes of the employees determine the amount of concentration that the employees have in their work.

Regulation of customer complaints: Customer complaints is one of the major determining factors of any organization and is inversely proportional to the amount of satisfaction that the customer has from a particular organization. The regulation of customer complaints is one of the pivotal measures in determining the amount and quality of services that the customer receive from the employees of a particular organization. The customer complaints make sure that the company is not doing the work as per the instructions and promises made by them which hampers the reputation of the brand in the longer run.

Work done on time and in fashion: One of the chief measures of the Occupational Psychologist is to make sure that the work done by the employees of the company is to be done in time and in an ethical manner. The ethical treatment of work should be one of the major ways to determine the ethical manner of a company (Bishop, 2013). If a company does not do a work in an ethical manner, there is a possibility that the employees of the organization are to be blamed and the customers are not satisfied with the same. The timely work of the employees in the organization is also one of the major means to make sure that the employees of the particular place are serious about the work that they have been done. The work of the Occupational Psychologist is to make sure that the employees have enough of the mindset and strength to perform the task assigned to them both in time and an ethical manner so that there are no complaints from the authorities or from the audience. This will make sure that the organization has the sufficient resources for the same to maintain the level and quality of work assigned to them.

Conclusions

In conclusion, it can be said that the organizational psychology plays a vital part in the workings of the organization as a whole. As an occupational psychologist of a Housing Estate that is facing tremendous pressure from the people of the organization, it is of prime importance to have a sufficient level of motivation and other strategic factors for the proper working of the employees of the firm. The firm that is facing the problem of employee retention and also making sure that the new and existing employees of the firm get ample amount of benefits and rewards from the same. The Housing Estate Organization authorities makes sure that the people of the organization are motivated to work according to the needs of the organization and also to make sure that the employees are giving their full efforts in the same. There are various causes and motives behind the mindset of such type of employees that should be considered. The various types of recommendations can be given by the specialist to make sure that the organization reaches the level that it wished for. Overall, the work of the occupational psychologist plays a major part in the overall workings of the institution.

One of the major recommendations of the employers of the Housing Organization is to be motivated to the task that they are assigned so that the organization can get the maximum benefits out of the employees. The employees should be given enough amount of holiday and space for the same so that the people of the organization get enough amount of space for the workings of their mind. The employees should be trained and made sure that the amount of problems that the employees are facing are reduced to a considerable amount. Their mistakes and the amount of neglect for the job should be reduced to a mere level so that the people of the organization should be given enough amount of freedom to conduct their own lives and maintain the work-life balance. The employees of the organization should be made aware of their duties and responsibilities in regards the organization and the work assigned to them making the employees perform in a better way for the organization.
